Thank you all so much for making 2025 a year of unexpected opportunities.

Our seminary students experienced greater depth in theology and practice; our new Center for Urban Chaplancy took steps forward toward offering a full Christian chaplaincy program, and another alum engaged a partner school for additional learning.

We graduated 10 (3 from prison), advanced over 20 students, had 8 chaplaincy interns, walked the Fight the Good Fight of Faith journey with 11 classes in jail and prison, and completed the first year of our Neighborhood Health Navigator grant initiative with documented and promising results.

Because of God, community, friends and Mission.

Merry Cristmas...all 12 Days! From all of us at the Seminary of Urban Leadership!

The reason for the season...
The reason for our service...
The reason we can live and love and hope...

We are so grateful to share that 3 women were graduated from S.O.U.L./TUMI Topeka's Capstone seminary this past week at Topeka Correctional Facility! These women persevered through COVID interruption, serious illnesses, housing, job changes and personal challenges to complete their seminary education so they can be effective servant leaders in their context.

We may be given a photo to share soon, and will update!

Thank you to our partners, World Impact, Inc and Serving USA for this collaboration, to all of our supporters through our Women Who've Changed the Heart of the City Topeka event, and to all of you who share and pray for these leaders.

We are privileged to be a moment in their journey.

S O.U.L.'s Center for Urban Chaplaincy is nearly a year into our exploration of the potential of having incarnational neighborhood chaplains serving alongside their local churches in high poverty neighborhoods. A grant from United Healthcare made it possible to team a Neighborhood Health Navigator up with a Neighborhood Chaplain in Central Park, Topeka.

This week, Shannon Sadowski, our Neighborhood Health Navigator, and our Director and Dean of Seminary, now also a Board Certified Chaplain, were given the opportunity to share the impact of serving neighbors at the KFMC Kansas Health Impact Conference in Manhattan, Kansas.

Shannon shared her powerful and compelling story of transformation and the joy of helping others. Our Director shared the impact spiritual care has on human wellness and flourishing. It was beautiful to represent neighbors and urban leaders in such an important space. We were introduced by our grant liaison, Lucia Jones Herrera. And Chaplain Intern and Capstone Seminary student, Griffin Gillmore helped connect with friends at our table.

Thank you to Brenda Rhoads-Groves and the KFMC team for inviting us and, in representation, all of our Central Park neighbors and church to the table of conversation. We applaud your work and all of the effort that went into making space for new ideas and collaboration.

Alum Shampayne Lloyd led us in Lesson 3-1 of God the Son at TUMI Topeka today!

THANK you, Shampayne, for sharing and investing in a new group of students who will love and serve in our hard places.

(Just had to capture these faces of joy in ministry.)
