Auburndale Christian Church founder, Clara Hazelrigg, is featured on the Kansas Historical Society's FB page in a post by Brenda Kipp. Hazelrigg was minister of the church starting in 1914. Later the church's name was changed to West Side Christian Church. From teaching school, to writing a book, to becoming a minister in the last part of her life...what an amazing woman! ...and former West Side Interim Minister, Steve Bridwell, reports that she founded the Kansas Messenger, the newsletter for the Regional Church in Kansas.

This sweetie has been hanging out by West Side Christian Church all afternoon. We're not sure whether it's a boy or a girl, and it doesn't seem to have a collar. It's very skittish - moving away when humans approach, although it did eat some food we put out for it. We left a box and a blanket out as animal control could not come get it this evening. It looks to be some kind of Bulldog mix (maybe Boston Bull Terrier or French Bulldog) and may be an older dog. It seems to like hanging out near the NW glass doors off Lindenwood St. If you know where this little one lives, please pass this along.

Tonight, five beloved former TPS teachers joined Dr. Anderson at the Kansas State Capitol as special invited guests for Governor Laura Kelly’s final State of the State Address. 🌻🏹✨

These outstanding educators, Anton Ahrens, Harry Peterson, and Kirsten Cigler of Topeka High School, and Diane Kimsey and Marti Bass of the former Potwin Elementary School, were all teachers of the Governor’s daughters and were invited in recognition of their lasting impact. 💛📚 Thank you Governor Kelly for honoring our TPS educators in such a meaningful way!
