Toomsuba Baptist Church

Toomsuba Baptist Church We'd love to have you join us! Sunday School begins at 10:00 a.m. in our fellowship Hall downstairs. Worship Service begins at 11:00 a.m. weekly!

Our Wednesday night Youth Ministry is 6:30-8:00 p.m. First and foremost a body of believers dedicated to worship and service of Jesus Christ. What does that mean: Giving, caring, working, worshipping, playing, laughing, crying, worshipping, uplifting, praying, singing, worshipping, talking, celebrating, grieving, worshipping, preparing, telling, studying, worshipping, teaching, learning, leading, following, worshipping, standing, kneeling, Baptizing, worshipping—you get the idea.

Good morning, and Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there joining us. We are so blessed to have you! We are also honoring our two graduates this morning.

Our message this morning comes from Ephesians 6:1-4 which reads:

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise: “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.” And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.

-a mistake repeated is a choice. If a snake bites you, it’s in his nature. If he bites you twice, it’s your fault for sticking your hand back down there.

-Parents are to correct their children but not to harp on a mistake over and over. Nor are they to correct for mistakes that have not yet been made. The punishment should fit the crime and then should not be brought up again, just as Jesus forgives our sine when we confess and He does not hold our past sins against them.

-Our children are a blessing and a gift from God. We are to raise them in His image to go out and portray Him in a world that desperately needs Jesus.

Matthew 12:40
For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

3 John 1:1-4
The Elder, To the beloved Gaius, whom I love in truth: Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. For I rejoiced greatly when brethren came and testified of the truth that is in you, just as you walk in the truth. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.
-John walked the earth with Jesus. He saw the miracles performed, he watched Jesus be crucified, he saw Him rise from the dead; yet his greatest joy is to see the churches he helped establish continue to walk in the Truth of the Lord.
-What a great joy we feel in our church seeing our youth return weekly for Wednesday and Sunday services knowing they’re here to seek Jesus. The enemy is going to come at them disguised as things they desire in their heart, and it’s imperative they have a good foundation to be able to recognize that.

Our message this morning comes from Matthew 7:15-23:

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them.
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
