Hoo-knew? Burrowing owls are back at Mesquite Wildlife Oasis. 🦉
Some exciting news from Mesquite: three burrowing owls were observed on site Monday, including one banded owl and one unbanded owl. Even more encouraging, these were not the original owls placed at the site. These are new owls and they found the habitat on their own.
Wild at Heart and RWE has supported the burrowing owl habitat and relocation efforts at Mesquite, and this latest sighting is a wonderful reminder of why constructed habitat matters. In Arizona, burrowing owls face growing pressure from habitat loss and disturbance, so creating safe, usable space can make a real difference.
As an outdoor classroom, conservation site, and part of a renewable energy landscape, Mesquite is truly important habitat - and it is exciting to see wildlife responding.
