Hoo-knew? Burrowing owls are back at Mesquite Wildlife Oasis. 🦉

Some exciting news from Mesquite: three burrowing owls were observed on site Monday, including one banded owl and one unbanded owl. Even more encouraging, these were not the original owls placed at the site. These are new owls and they found the habitat on their own.

Wild at Heart and RWE has supported the burrowing owl habitat and relocation efforts at Mesquite, and this latest sighting is a wonderful reminder of why constructed habitat matters. In Arizona, burrowing owls face growing pressure from habitat loss and disturbance, so creating safe, usable space can make a real difference.

As an outdoor classroom, conservation site, and part of a renewable energy landscape, Mesquite is truly important habitat - and it is exciting to see wildlife responding.

Full-circle moments like this are what make the Mesquite Wildlife Oasis so special 🌿✨

Today, we welcomed a very special guest — an educator who first visited the Oasis when she was a second grader. All these years later, she returned not as a student, but as a teacher, bringing her own second-grade class to learn, explore and fall in love with Arizona’s wildlife and habitats just like she did.

It’s moments like these that remind us why outdoor learning matters — because the seeds we plant today grow into the leaders, educators and conservation stewards of tomorrow 💚🌵🦉

Here’s to lifelong learning, wild inspiration and the next generation of nature-lovers coming full circle!

Tomorrow is Arizona Gives Day and a perfect opportunity to give back to the 820 diverse wildlife species that call our beautiful state home! Wildlife for Tomorrow (WFT) is dedicated to enhancing wildlife conservation efforts for these incredible species.

As the Arizona Game and Fish Department's official nonprofit organization, WFT has contributed to some amazing efforts including funding improvements to native fish hatcheries, habitat restoration projects, providing water sources for wildlife, enhancing educational programs and supporting volunteer initiatives. WFT is also instrumental in implementing the Mesquite Wildlife Oasis program!

Whether you're an outdoor enthusiast or simply someone who loves Arizona, WFT provides a platform for us all to make a meaningful impact. We are asking our followers to consider donating the cost of tomorrow's cup of joe - or even a bit more if you're feeling generous?

Together, we can support the essential work of WFT and help conserve Arizona's wildlife for generations to come. Let’s make it happen! 🐾✨ Thank you for being awesome!

The Foundation for the Conservation of Arizona’s Wildlife was created in 1990 to enhance the management, protection and enjoyment of Arizona’s fish and wildlife resources. Today, the organization does business under the name Wildlife for Tomorrow (WFT). WFT is an...
