Dear Brothers and Sisters:
We are in the Most Holy Trinity Sunday. In the first reading we hear Moses encountering the Most High on mount Sinai. Moses communicates the Ten Commandments of the Lord to his people who later fail to obey them. Moses pleads the gracious God for His mercy upon His people for their sins. How do we consider the Ten Commandments in our daily life? Do we remain grateful to God for His mercy and forgiveness?

The second reading is so very rich in inviting all the believers to live in peace. It welcomes the community of the faithful to mend our ways, to encourage one another and to live in fellowship with everyone. Our Christian life is always a life of fraternal love and mutual peace. How do we wish to live and promote these gospel values?

The Gospel tells us about the unique purpose of God sending His Son into the world. The Divine Creator invites us to believe in His Son Jesus that we may not be condemned but be saved. Our salvation is assured because of our unshakable faith in Jesus, by the infinite and everlasting love of God for each and every one of us. Is our faith in Jesus strong like the rock?

Dear Brothers and Sisters:
It is Pentecost Sunday. In the first reading we hear about the Pentecost event, the Holy Spirit descending upon the Apostles in the form of tongues of fire. Filled with the Holy Spirit the Apostles began to proclaim the message of the Gospel. In the same way we too are filled with the Holy Spirit through the reception of every Sacrament. Do we become aware of the power and indwelling of the Holy Spirit in us? How do we proclaim the truth of the Gospel through word, deed and our life?

The second reading tells about the different kinds of spiritual gifts and services, all workings of the same Spirit, same Lord and same God. When these gifts are lavishly received by us through the Holy Spirit, how generous are we to graciously manifest and share them for the good and benefit of others?

In the Gospel we hear the Risen Jesus imparting the gifts of the Holy Spirit by breathing new life into the Apostles He filled them with peace and empowered them with authority to forgive sins. In this post resurrection period how do we live and promote peace, forgiveness, reconciliation, fraternity, and fellowship?

Dear Brothers and Sisters:
We are on the seventh Sunday of the Easter Season celebrating the feast of the Ascension of the Lord. In the first reading we learn that Jesus spent forty days with the apostles giving them further instructions, promising the coming of the Holy Spirit and commissioning them to carry on His work. Disciples were curious about the time of restoration of the Kingdom of Israel. But the Lord redirects their attention to be His witnesses to the ends of the earth. This is our mission to bear witness to Christ always.

The second reading states that receiving the Holy Spirit results in knowledge of Christ. But this is not head knowledge, rather it is heart knowledge. Through it, our hearts are opened to a new understanding of key spiritual insights. There are three mentions here, first is the hope that comes from our Christian Vocation. Second is the glorious riches of our heavenly inheritance. Third is, through the gift of the Holy Spirit, to understand the incalculable greatness of God’s power.

The Gospel presents to us the Great Commission of our Lord to His apostles, “Go and make disciples of all nations”. This is the important theme where our diocese is reflecting and working on for three years, through Evangelization and Maintenance to Mission. Jesus establishes His sovereign authority by His declaration of power over all of heaven and earth. Then He imparts that power to His apostles and by sending them to make disciples of all nations He opens the good news of salvation to all people. Do we want to become participants in this great mission? What is our contribution towards the transformation of our people?

Dear Brothers and Sisters:
We are on the fifth Sunday of Easter. In the first reading we see the tension arising between the Jewish and Gentile converts. The Hellenists complain of neglect of their widows by the Hebrew administration. Hence the apostles establish their succession by selecting seven men to take care of these details so that they could focus on praying and preaching. When faced with differences how do we sort to find solutions to solve them?

The second reading describes Jesus as a “living stone”, emphasizing both the reality of Jesus’ resurrection as well as the solid foundation upon which we build our faith. Peter shifts focus from Jesus and says that we too are living stones, implying that we might be rejected by the world for following Christ, but we are precious in the eyes of God as his chosen race, royal priesthood and holy nation.

In the Gospel our Lord emphasizes that in revealing himself, he reveals the Father. But the disciples fail to understand due to their lack of faith. To be sure, if all was understood, there would be no need for faith. Hence the Lord exhorts them to believe Him based on His words and works which they witnessed. He also reveals first, that the purpose of His departure is to prepare a place for them in His Father’s house. Second, that He is “the way, the truth and the life”. Is Jesus our way, our truth and our life?
