LET US JOIN POPE LEO XIV IN PRAYING FOR PEACE THIS SATURDAY
The Vatican has announced a Global Rosary for Peace to be led by Pope Leo XIV on May 30 at the Lourdes Grotto in the Vatican Gardens.
Catholics across the world are invited to unite spiritually with the Holy Father as he leads the Rosary live at 7:00 p.m. Rome time. Organized by the Dicastery for Evangelization, this worldwide prayer initiative seeks to gather the faithful in praying for peace amid the conflicts and suffering affecting many nations today.
Among the Marian shrines participating in this global moment of prayer are the Shrine of the Mother of God in Zarvanytsia, Ukraine; the International Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage in Antipolo, Philippines; the Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary in Fátima, Portugal; the Shrine of Our Lady Queen of Peace in Medjugorje, Bosnia and Herzegovina; the Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes in France; the Shrine of St. Charbel in Annaya, Lebanon; and the Pontifical Shrine of the Holy House in Loreto, Italy.
Monsignor Walter R. Rossi, rector of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., will also join the initiative through a simultaneous livestream prayer gathering.
In a recent Pentecost homily, Pope Leo XIV encouraged the faithful to call upon the Holy Spirit and pray earnestly for an end to war, reminding the world that true peace comes not from power, but from the “omnipotence of love.”
Since the beginning of his pontificate, Pope Leo XIV has continuously appealed for peace in regions suffering from violence and unrest, especially in the Middle East, Africa, and Ukraine.
May this worldwide Rosary unite hearts, strengthen faith, and bring hope to a world longing for peace.
