So... I see a lot of posts online talking about how "Jesus never condemned..." and then talking about whatever it is that they want everyone to accept. Now, sometimes this is true; there are things that society condemns that holy scripture does not (chastity for example). However, the interesting heresy that creeps in here is based on a rejection of the Truth that Jesus is God and the Holy Spirit is God. So if the Holy Spirit inspired Holy Scripture, then Jesus is linked to all of the words of scripture (don't equate the persons, but rather that the Godhead is speaking one consistent Truth through both). Jesus is the Logos, the Word of God (more intention than text, but it very much still applies). If you make the claim that if Jesus didn't say it then we don't have to believe it and you mean specifically the four gospels, you are breaking from Nicene Christianity and aren't really talking about Jesus as God anymore at all.
Now, if you don't believe that Jesus is God, but rather just a madman who claimed to be the fulfillment of thousands of years of prophecy, then you can claim that his words have unique weight solely from himself... but that would logically mean he's a madman, so why bring him up at all?
