IT'S WRONG, BUT I WILL DO IT ANYWAY
The Bible is the divine standard for Christians (2 Tim. 3:16-17; John 12:48). We are supposed to live by the "Good Book" every day of our lives. "Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ..." (Phil. 1:27).
Sin involves our missing the mark set by God. Sin is also transgression, that is, stepping across the mark that God has established. "Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law" (1 John 3:4).
Sin is not something Christians should want to engage in. "What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?" (Rom. 6:1-2). And again: "My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not..." (1 John 2:1).
Sometimes, however, we will find Christians who know something is wrong and will do it any way. The list of sins intentionally committed by God's children is as long as the possible sins that can be committed.
Christians are not supposed to lie, but they lie.
Christians are not supposed to steal, but they steal.
Christians are not supposed to curse, but they curse.
Christians are not supposed to commit adultery, but they do.
Christians are not supposed to gossip, but they gossip.
Christians are not supposed to get revenge, but they do.
Christians are not supposed to covet, but they covet.
Christians are not supposed to get drunk, but they do.
Christians are not supposed to be unthankful, but they are.
Christians are not supposed to speak evil of others, but they do.
The list could go on and on and on.
Why do we sin? Perhaps it is because our love for sin is stronger than our love for God. We prefer to fulfill the desires of the flesh more than we long to fulfill the will of God. We enjoy the pleasures of sin more than we are willing to secure joy in the hereafter.
Is there something wrong that you are doing, and you know its wrong?
Shame on you.
"Where they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the Lord" (Jer. 6:15; 8:12).
