Trusting God Without Forcing Outcomes
Scriptures (KJV) Romans 4:17 “God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.”
James 4:15 “For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.”
Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please him…”
Renewed Mind Teaching: There is a difference between faith and presumption. Faith trusts God. Presumption tries to control God. Faith stands on the Word. Presumption demands outcomes on our timeline. And many believers struggle because they confuse confidence with control. Kingdom faith says: “Lord, I believe Your promise.” Presumption says: “Lord, You must do it exactly how and when I want.” But real faith remains submitted to God’s Word; it’s all about obedience to our King, Jesus Christ.
What Romans 4:17 Really Means: “calleth those things which be not as though they were.” This verse is often misunderstood. It does not mean we create reality with our words. It means we agree with what God has already spoken, even before we fully see it manifested. Abraham did not deny reality. He simply trusted the promise above the circumstance. His body was old.
Sarah’s womb was barren. Yet God spoke a promise over impossibility. Faith agreed with God.
The Danger of Presumption: Presumption sounds spiritual, but it is rooted in self-will. Presumption says: “God owes me.” “If I confess it enough, He has to do it.” “If it doesn’t happen my way, God failed.” But James 4 reminds us: “If the Lord will…” That is humility. Kingdom prayer declares Scripture, while still surrendering timing and method to God.
A Parable: The Farmer and the Seed
Imagine a farmer planting seeds in a field. Every morning, he runs outside, digging up the soil, saying: “Why hasn’t it grown yet?” His impatience damages what was planted. Now compare that to another farmer. He plants. He waters. He trusts the process. He understands growth takes time. That second farmer walks in faith. And this is how Kingdom believers must live. You plant the Word. You water with prayer. You trust God with timing.
Renewed Mind Kingdom Truth
Faith is not forcing outcomes. Faith is remaining steady while God works unseen. Hebrews 11 says faith is: “the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Not seen yet. That means real faith often exists before visible evidence appears.
Abraham’s Example
Romans 4 says Abraham: “considered not his own body…” That does not mean he ignored reality. It means reality did not become greater than God’s promise.
There will be seasons where:
• finances don’t match the promise
• relationships don’t match the promise
• circumstances don’t match the promise
But faith keeps agreeing with God without becoming bitter.
What This Looks Like in Real Life with Your Family:
You pray: “Lord, my house shall be saved.” Then you trust His process. You don’t manipulate people emotionally. With Reconciliation. You stand on: Joel 2:25 “I will restore…” But you do not force restoration ahead of God’s timing.
With Business & Ministry. You work diligently. You steward faithfully. You sow consistently. But you refuse to panic when growth feels slow. Because increase belongs to God. Never forget that all we do is “plant and water.” He gives the increase! When we try to manipulate increase, we are out of alignment with God’s will and His plan. That’s called rebellion.
Another Parable: The Potter. A potter shapes clay slowly. If the clay tries to harden too quickly, it becomes unusable. God often develops us in delay. Not because He abandoned us, but because maturity takes time. Some prayers are answered slowly because God is forming the vessel while preparing the promise.
My Prayer — Faith Without Presumption
Father, teach me to walk in real faith. Help me trust Your promises without trying to control outcomes. Your Word says You call things that are not as though they were, so I choose to agree with what You have spoken. But I also surrender my timing to Your will. Keep me from fear-driven striving and impatient reactions. Teach me to plant faithfully, pray faithfully, and wait faithfully. When I cannot see movement, help me remain steady. I trust You even in the process. In Jesus’ name,
Renewed Mind Action Steps:
Write down one promise you are believing God for.
Then underneath it write: “I trust God’s process and timing.”
Read it aloud today.
Renewed Mind Reflection
Faith is not proven by how loudly you declare something. Faith is proven by how steady you remain while waiting.
3 R’s Reflection
Required: What area of my life am I trying to control instead of surrendering?
Return: What peace would come if I fully trusted God’s timing?
Reward: What maturity is produced when faith remains steady during delay?
Never forget: God is not late. He is forming both the promise and the person receiving it. And my friend, the best is still ahead.
