Tonight, we celebrate the Easter Vigil, the culmination of Holy Week and the glorious celebration of Christ's Resurrection! The Gospel of Matthew brings us the joyous news: 'He is not here, for he has been raised just as he said.'

This weekend we begin Holy Week with Palm Sunday, remembering Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem! As he entered, the crowds shouted "Hosanna to the Son of David; blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!" But, as we know, only a few days later the same crowds were seeking his death.

Today the Church remembers St. Joseph, the husband of Mary and foster father of Jesus. As we recall his example from scripture as a "just man" and recognize how blessed he must have been to be chosen by God for his amazing vocation, we ask St. Joseph to pray for us too!

May we, like him, be known as people who are just and live out the vocation given us by God, seeking to foster Jesus present in the people among us, especially the poor.
