More restoration updates! At the end of last week, the crucifix was returned to it's place under the baldacchino. The original curtain was hung up for the weekend to access its condition.

This week, the crews were back to install the altar of repose and begin mapping out the platform for the cathedra. Our tabernacle slowly made its way across the sanctuary over two days and was placed on the altar of repose this morning!

Our prayers are with the family and friends of Trude Wevers who passed away last week. There will be visitation at Coyle on Reynolds on Friday evening from 3:00-7:00pm. The funeral Mass will be at the cathedral on Saturday at 10:30am, with visitation beforehand beginning at 9:30am.

Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, though God's mercy, rest in peace. Amen.

Over the last two and a half weeks the crew has been working hard removing the platform. This morning, they uncovered the final section of the original sanctuary! The aisles and several sections of the original sanctuary are in great shape. Repairs will be made to the missing sections of marble in the sanctuary. Flooring and our original pews will fill where spacer boards are seen.

Restoration Update:

The project to restore the sanctuary of Rosary Cathedral began on Monday, June 8. This week Volpe Tile and Ohio Building Restoration (OBR) disassembled the altar, moved the tabernacle, relocated the baptismal font, and lowered the crucifix. Progress has been made on removing the floor of the lower sanctuary to the original footprint.

Stay tuned throughout the summer as work continues and pray for the successful completion of this project through the generosity of the Living Christ Campaign.
