Because we are creatures of free will, we make choices-lots of them. When we make choices that are pleasing to our heavenly Father, we will be blessed by Him. When we choose to follow in the footsteps of God's Son, we will enjoy the abundance God has promised to those who follow Jesus.

Unfortunately, sometimes we make choices that are displeasing to
God. We sow seeds that have the potential to bring an unhappy harvest.

Today, as you go about what seems like the routine of daily living, you will actually be making hundreds of choices. Will you choose wisely? Start by making your thoughts and your actions pleasing to the heavenly Father. Then make every choice as if God were watching...because He is.

Hebrews 10:38 teaches that we should live by faith. Yet sometimes, despite our best intentions, feelings of doubt and fear can rob us of the peace and spiritual abundance that should be ours through Christ. Anger or anxiety can keep us from the blessings God wants to bestow. So we must learn to put faith over feelings. Human emotions are highly variable, decidedly unpredictable, and often unreliable. Our emotions are like the weather, only far more fickle. That's why God wants us to live by faith, not by the ups and downs of our own emotional roller coasters.

Sometimes during this day, you will probably be gripped by a strong negative emotion. Distrust it. Rein it is, Test it. And turn it over to God. Our emotions change; God does not. So trust Him completely, and let your feelings slowly fade, to be replaced by faith/

Are you burdened by the pressures of everyday living? Would you like to ease that pressure but aren't sure how you can do it? Try allowing God's Spirit to fill you and to do His work in your life. When you're filled with the Spirit, your words and deeds will reflect a love and devotion to God.

When God's Spirit dwells in you, the steps of your life's journey are guided by the Holy Spirit. When you allow the Spirit to work in you and through you, you will be energized and transformed.

Let me encourage you to take God at His promise to put His Spirit in you, and you'll be amazed at just how fully you can live!

After fasting forty days and nights in the desert, Jesus was tempted by Satan. Christ used Scripture to rebuke the enemy, and we can and should do likewise. We must depend upon God's promises and use them to shield us from temptation.

When we petition the Lord sincerely, He will lead us away from the snares the enemy puts in our path. The Good Shepherd will lead us back to Himself. If we trust and follow Him, He will deliver us from evil, just as He has promised.

I am not sure where to start but first to thank the Lord Jesus Christ for allowing me the privilege to serve at First Church.
The memories and friends that I’ve made in the past 23 years are priceless. All the volunteers that I had the privilege to work alongside have taught me so much. From teaching Sunday school to Mission trips with our youth to vacation Bible school are just some of my favorites. All the prayers with many of you, as you trusted in the Lord with your circumstances.
I am not leaving. I’m just stepping down and you are in very capable hands now of Gayle.
On a sidenote, every time I ride my bike, I would think fondly of each, and every one of you. Every time I look at my blanket that was so lovingly made by Donna Titsworth , the Lord will bring a pleasant memory to my mind.
Finally to Pastor Larry Vriezelaar it has been a joy and privilege to serve with you.
Again, thank you First Church love you all.

God has given us a guidebook for life called the Bible. It contains thorough instructions which, if followed, will lead to fulfillment, spiritual abundance, and peace. God has given us instructions for the purpose of knowing Him; His power, His wisdom, His promises, and His love. As we study God's teachings and apply them to our lives, we live by the Word that will never pass away.

First Church members let's give Gayle Kuhnle a warm welcome. You may have seen her around with her big smile and warm greeting. She has taken the place of Shelby (who recently retired) She is delightful and refers to herself as the "Church Lady". She is learning everything that is needed and has a heart for the Lord.

September 13th is a special Sunday for FCC. Pastor Will Henderson will be speaking for us as a pastoral candidate, chosen after much prayer and discernment by the pastoral search committee. Please, come, sit with us, hear Pastor Henderson's message and meet him and his family. As the day approaches, be in prayer for our church as we go through the process of finding the right shepherd FCC needs. We look forward to seeing you this Sunday.
