The Special Guest Program allows individuals battling cancer to have a day to focus on themselves not their cancer. The word Ahava is from the Hebrew language and means “Cherished One.” The mission of Friends of Ahava is to restore hope and healing to individuals with cancer. In keeping with that mission, Friends of Ahava created a program entitled, “Special Guests.” The program is designed for in
dividuals, males and females alike, that have a diagnosis of cancer. The program consists of three processes: orientation/in-take, therapy, and evaluation. Once an individual contacts Cherished Friends of Ahava or is referred, she or he is sent an orientation packet that includes: “It’s About You” survey, Personal Health Information form, and Cancer Assessment form. Seven spa services are given during their 6-hour stay at the spa, complimentary lunch, and a complimentary gift bag. The Special Guest receives a follow-up survey to evaluate their experience, give recommendations, and rate their satisfaction with the Special Guest Program. The total experience is free of charge. Although Cherished Friends of Ahava has only been serving Special Guests since September 2004, over 1500 individuals have been served.
