The world tells us our value comes from what we accomplish.

How much we produce.
How much we achieve.
How much we can fit into a day.

But Scripture tells a different story.

Before you ever completed a task, earned a title, or checked a box, you were created in the image of God.

Your worth is not found in your productivity.
Your identity is not found in your performance.
Your value is not determined by your success.

The One who created you is the One who defines you.

That means your worth isn't something you have to earn—it's something you've already been given.

One of the greatest lies our culture tells us is that our worth comes from what we produce.

That if we stop working, slow down, or leave something unfinished, somehow we become less valuable.

But God never measures us by our productivity.

Before humanity accomplished anything, built anything, or achieved anything, God declared creation good. And in Genesis, we discover something unique about ourselves—we are made in the image of God.

Our value is not earned through achievement.
Our identity is not found in a to-do list.
Our worth is not determined by how busy we are.

You are valuable because you belong to God.

The invitation of Sabbath is to remember what the world makes us forget: you are more than what you produce.

Such a great day partnering with this great organization, and our friends at Church of the Cross and Maumee UMC. Great work and thanks to all who helped build 60 beds for children in the Toledo area

What if rest isn't the reward for finishing your work... but the place where God prepares you for it?

Too often, we treat rest as something we earn after we've exhausted ourselves. But Scripture paints a different picture. God built rest into the rhythm of creation—not as an afterthought, but as a gift.

A life rooted in Sabbath creates room for worship, renewal, joy, and clarity. It reminds us that our worth is not found in how much we produce, but in whose we are.

Rest isn't a sign of weakness. Sometimes it's the launching point for everything God wants to do next.

Sabbath is more than a day off—it is God's invitation into a different way of living.

In a world that tells us to keep pushing, producing, and proving ourselves, God reminds us that we were created for more than the grind. We were created for worship, joy, rest, community, and renewal.

From the very beginning, God built a rhythm into creation: work and rest, labor and delight, purpose and restoration.

Sabbath is not about doing less. It's about making space for what matters most.

God’s mercy was never meant to stop with us.

The story of Jonah reminds us that the same grace that found us is meant to overflow into the lives of others.

Even when Jonah resisted…
Even when he ran…
Even when he struggled to accept mercy for people he believed didn’t deserve it…
God’s love kept reaching wider.

That’s the invitation for all of us today:
To let the mercy and love of God that has already found us become wide enough for everyone else too.

Because grace is never something we hoard — it’s something we share.

05/25/2026

The story of Jonah is ultimately a story about relentless grace.

Grace reached sailors in the middle of a storm.
Grace found Jonah at the bottom of the sea.
Grace transformed an entire city through a reluctant prophet and a five-word sermon.

Again and again, the book of Jonah reminds us that God’s mercy is wider than we want it to be—and deeper than we could imagine.

And in the end, God’s question becomes an invitation for all of us:
Will we receive that grace for ourselves… and will we extend it to others?

Grace was never meant to be hoarded.
The mercy we’ve received is meant to overflow into the world around us.

Jonah expected destruction.
God brought transformation.

That’s the mystery of grace.

Even through reluctant words, imperfect people, and resistant hearts, God still moves. What Jonah hoped would end in judgment became a story of repentance, mercy, and new life.

Sometimes God can do more with our obedience than we ever imagined.
What we see as hopeless, God still sees as redeemable.

Grace has a way of turning even the hardest hearts toward transformation.

The story of Jonah reminds us that God’s grace is wider than we imagine.

Jonah ran in the opposite direction.
He resisted the call.
He struggled, failed, and fought against what God was doing.

And still… grace kept showing up.

It reached sailors in the middle of a storm.
It reached an entire city that seemed beyond redemption.
It even reached a reluctant prophet who couldn’t outrun the mercy of God.

That’s the good news of Jonah:
God’s grace is deeper than our failures, greater than our fears, and stronger than our resistance.

The invitation is simple—stop running, receive God’s grace, and respond with your whole life.

Some of us know what it feels like to hit rock bottom.
To drift. To run. To feel distant from God and unsure how to find our way back.

But the story of Jonah reminds us of this truth:
there is no depth too deep for the grace of God.

Before Jonah ever turned around, God was already there.
Before he could save himself, God made a way.

No failure is final.
No distance is too far.
No life is beyond the reach of God’s mercy.
