In 2002, a young man named Stephen Coffey prayed a bold prayer before tragically passing away in a car accident that very night: "I’d give my life today if it would shake the youth of the nation." Moved by that heartbreak, his friend John Mark McMillan penned the song "How He Loves," capturing the overwhelming, relentless nature of God's grace.
In this message, we kick off our new series, Ephesians: Heaven Meets Earth, by looking at how God's love and grace redefine our lives. We explore our position as God's masterpiece (poiema), the mystery of unity in Christ, and how heaven isn't just a distant destination, but what we are sent to bring here.

We had a great night with students at universityoftoccoafalls involvement fair. We made a lot of great connections and can see the future is bright.

We are the most connected generation that has ever lived and also the loneliest one, and most of us have felt both of those things in the same afternoon. God built us with a real need to be known, and that need doesn't go away just because it isn't getting met, so people find something to put in the gap. A lot of them, teenagers and adults both, are turning to AI for company right now. Some are in something they'd call a relationship with a chatbot. If that sounds strange to you, sit with it a second before you laugh, because it says less about the technology than it does about how many people don't have anyone in their life who asks how they're doing and waits for the real answer. Something that always agrees with you and never needs anything from you isn't company. It's chasing after the wind. The only thing that actually fills that is people, in the room, over time.

We were never meant to carry the weight of life entirely on our own. Yet, our culture, our technology, and our own habits often isolate us, leaving us to pull every heavy load up the stairs by ourselves.

In this message, No One Goes Alone, we look at the parable of the Good Samaritan and Paul's command in Romans 15 to discover why trying to do life in isolation leaves us stranded, and how stepping into real, messy community changes everything.

Pastor David's dad told him a long time ago that if you're fasting and you're not praying, then you're just not eating, and that is a horrible diet plan. Skipping the meal was never really the point of any of it. The point is what you do with the time and the attention that meal was taking up, which is why on the days he fasts he gets somewhere quiet and worships and prays for about as long as he would have been sitting there with a plate in front of him. What caught him off guard was what it built in him over time. Learning to sit with being hungry and not immediately fix it turns out to be the same muscle you use on the angry text you want to send, or the lustful thought you want to sit around and entertain, or that constant low grade pull to make yourself look better than everybody around you. Prayer is what brings you close to God. Fasting is what makes the rest of it possible. Have you ever fasted for real? We'd like to hear what it taught you.
