Our mission is to build a community of belonging, safety, discovery, spiritual growth, and unconditional love through summer camp, environmental education, and retreat programming. The Mikell Camp and Conference Center was established in 1941 by the Right Reverend Henry Judah Mikell, Bishop of Atlanta, as a setting for Christian education and recreation for young people. Over the years, it has dev

eloped into a year-round conference center serving people of all ages in the Diocese and its parishes, as well as other groups whose purposes complement our mission.

It’s the last full day of Outdoor Camp and Performing Arts Camp and what a week it has been! PA dress rehearsals are underway, prepraring for tomorrow’s performance, and Outdoor campers have returned to camp for some much deserved pizza and pool time after finishing an 11 mile backpacking trip along the Chattooga River!

✨ 85 Years of Camp Mikell ✨

For 85 summers, campers have made the drive through the valley, up the hill, and at the end of Camp Mikell Road, found a place where lifelong friendships begin. A home away from home where confidence grows, faith is nurtured, and memories are made.

Since 1941, generations of campers, counselors, staff, students, clergy, volunteers, and families have helped shape the story of Camp Mikell. Each song sung, each hike taken, each prayer shared, and each act of kindness has become part of a legacy that continues today.

As we celebrate this milestone, we give thanks for everyone who has been a part of the Mikell family. Together, we honor the traditions that connect us, the community that sustains us, and the countless lives that have been touched in this special place.

Here's to 85 years of adventure, growth, faith, and belonging—and to the generations still to come!

This week, we lift up Camp Beckwith, City Camp, Camp Mikell, Camp Bratton-Green & the Gray Center, Episcopal Diocese of Kansas Youth Ministry Mega Camp, St. Dorothy's Episcopal Camp & Retreat, and St. Crispin's Summer Camp in our summer camp cycle of prayer 🏕️🙏

Dear God,
Thank you for this world. We are blessed that our call to your mission puts us in the midst of it every day. It’s grounding and beautiful. Let us never lose sight of how precious it is and to steward our little pieces gently and intentionally into the future. Help us to remember that we were made just as precious as the world around us and be just as gentle with ourselves and each other.

Mikell’s first session of 2026 is in the books!

Thank you to all of our Mini Campers and parents! Despite the rain we had a fun weekend filled with 4 square, s’mores, visits to the art shack and nature center, and lots of new friends!
The fabulous Deans for the weekend led sessions about growing into who we are meant to be, and we ended the weekend by planting a tree at camps entrance, where it will greet this cohort of campers year after year as they grow together!
