BRETHREN, WE NEED EACH OTHER'S GIUDANCE AND LOVE

God appoints Ezekiel as a watchman (Ez. 33:7–9) and warns that silence in the face of danger is guilt, not kindness. Church leaders must therefore watch over the flock, guiding their conscience in love. Parents must watch over their children: when parental guidance collapses, society eventually feels the consequences, because children who grow up without boundaries often become adults who struggle with responsibility, identity, and faith. A parenting style that offers wide liberty but minimal direction can unintentionally produce young people who are socially unanchored and spiritually indifferent. Teachers support discipline but cannot shape conscience deeply because public-school law limits religious formation. This is why some families consider church schools still, in spite of rising costs, and cultural pressure causing many to close due to population decline. Still, the deeper work of conscience and belief still belongs to the family and the Church.
In the Gospel, Jesus gives a clear process for correction in love: begin privately, avoiding humiliation. Then persist patiently, and keep seeking for reconciliation.

We pray: Lord make us watchmen for one another, give us courage to speak when silence would harm, give us humility to listen when truth is spoken in love, and give us gentleness to enter one another’s lives without dominating, so that correction becomes healing and community becomes holy. Amen.

A wonderful reflection from Fr. Festus:

There are also crosses we do not choose — crosses that come from life itself: the illness that weakens the body; the grief that empties a home; the disappointment that breaks a heart; the betrayal that wounds a friendship. The anxiety that brings restlessness; the family pain that refuses to heal. These crosses feel heavy and deeply personal. They too must still be taken up and carried, by facing them with Christ rather than fleeing from them. Taking up the cross never means avoiding the hospital, avoiding treatment, avoiding dialogue, or avoiding responsible action; it means refusing to let fear, bitterness, or selfprotection close the heart to God. It means not running away from reality, not abandoning your vocation, not letting fear rule your decisions, not choosing sin as an escape, and not rejecting God because life is painful. Yet even here, the mystery of Christ unfolds as He says: “Whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it” (Mt 16:25). In such moments, “losing your life” means letting go of the instinct to withdraw or to protect yourself through fear or resentment; and “saving your life” means allowing Christ to meet you in that suffering, to shape you through it, and to lead you into a deeper, freer and more faithful life than selfpreservation could ever give. The cross that wounds us can also be the cross that shapes us, strengthens us, and brings us to life. God does not waste suffering rather He transforms it.

Congratulations today to Father Festus on his 17th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood! Happy Anniversary Father!!

Father’s connects important events in his life to Mary. The Catholic Church celebrates the Memorial of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary every year on August 22. It lands on the octave day (the eighth day) of the Solemnity of the Assumption, connecting Mary’s bodily entry into heaven with her royal position as Queen of Heaven and Earth.

THE FAITH OF THE CANNANITE WOMAN AND GOD'S DESIRE.

Did you notice yesterday beloved one that, even though Jesus says to the Cannanite woman: “It is not right to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.” hence naming the existing traditional boundary. She replies: “Yes, Lord, but even the dogs eat the scraps that fall from the master’s table.” She is saying: “Lord, Your mercy is too big to stay inside one circle.” And Jesus agrees: “Woman, great is your faith.” Thus the boundary falls, the circle widens, and grace flows.

On a lighter mood, I just imagined when Jesus and the woman speak of “dogs” and “scraps,” if it were to be in the current time, dogs don’t get scraps anymore: they get grainfree meals, vitamins and medications. They even get walk out, grooming, winter jackets, and birthday cakes and perhaps trust funds, insurance and endowments in will. Some dogs eat better than their owners for real. So, when she says, “Even the dogs eat the scraps,” we can imagine Jesus smiling, because modern dogs would say, “Scraps? Lord, warn her, we get salmon and sweet potato.” But the point remains: God’s generosity always exceeds human boundaries.

My dear friends, the readings today call us to two truths.
First, no one is unfit or excluded by birth, tribe, background, or past. Isaiah says God welcomes all who honor Him. The Gospel shows Jesus praising a woman from outside the old covenant circle, showing us that God’s mercy is tied to faith, humility, persistence, reverence, and trust rather than to tribe and origin. Paul says God’s mercy is for all.
Second, those inside must not resist when God widens the circle. The disciples said, “Send her away,” but Jesus said, “Great is your faith.” Whenever God opens the door wider — to new people, new situations, new paths, new arrangements, new ways of gathering — we must not say, “Send it away.” We must say, “Lord, let Your mercy be for all.”

The Canaanite woman teaches us that faith is not proven by holding on to what is familiar; faith is proven by trusting God when He expands the circle. And wherever God’s people gather — in familiar places or unfamiliar ones — there God builds His house, not just where we wished or were or grew up/inherited. May He find in us a faith that welcomes His widening mercy. Amen.

Sunday was a wonderful day to share food and fellowship on our beautiful church grounds. Great food, lots of fellowship and laughter. So thankful for Ken and Ronda Lancaster and Ken’s parents and sister for all the hard work to provide the core of our meal. There was a tremendous assortment of delicious salads and desserts! It was a great day for a picnic. Thanks to all who participated.

A MESSAGE FROM FATHER FESTUS:

Hi beloved People of St. Titus!!!
Like the servants in today's Gospel , we may be wishing that all sinners be punished to the root and quickly too. But Christ says, 'let all grow till harvest' . If God were to remove all sinners instantly, you and I won't stand. We are wheat at one moment and w**d at another between faith and doubt, generosity - selfishness, patience - irritation, courage - fear. So dear one, let's allow God in his Patience, Clemency and Lenience. That person termed 'w**d' may be a wheat trying to grow more. So, be patient with God, with yourself and others. Trust in God's slow process. Keep growing with courage and confidence that as time goes on, God brings His kingdom to maturity.

Titusville High School is proud to announce the Class of 2026 Valedictorian, Jenna K. Crocker and Salutatorian, Rebecca A. Cole.
Jenna is the daughter of Matthew and Megan Crocker. While at THS, Jenna was as a member of National Honor Society, Varsity Club, Student Council, Varsity Swimming, Varsity
Track, Rocket Marching Band and was a RMB Student Leader. Jenna was a Jr. City Council member and served as the National Honor Society treasurer, Varsity Club treasurer and Senior Class treasurer. She has earned the College Board National Rural & Small-town Recognition Award. Jenna participated in the PMEA All-State Wind Ensemble for Percussion in her junior and senior years. Jenna has volunteered her time working as a lifeguard for THS, YMCA swim lessons, and at Hasson Pool during the summers. Jenna participated as a reenactor at the Oil Region Alliance Tarbell Teas. Jenna plans to attend Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University for Aerospace Engineering with the career goal to be an Aerospace Engineer at NASA.
