In a world filled with complexities, the word "rescue" often gets a mixed reception. For some, it carries connotations of helplessness or dependency, especially in discussions around sensitive issues like human trafficking. However, for us, "rescue" is a word of profound beauty and hope—a testament to the transformative power of love and salvation.
As we reflect on our lives, we can all identify moments where we have been rescued—be it from despair, fear, or hopelessness. As Believers, we recognize that we have all been rescued by the Lord. This divine act of love is at the heart of our faith; it speaks to the profound relationship between the Rescuer and the rescued.
In the context of anti-human trafficking efforts, the term "rescue" can be a double-edged sword. Some advocates express concern that it can imply a savior complex or diminish the agency of survivors. These are important conversations to have, and we must be sensitive to the nuances involved. However, let us not forget that at the core of any rescue mission is the desire for freedom—freedom from bo***ge, fear, and exploitation.
For us, "rescue" is an acknowledgment of the beauty in liberation. It embodies hope, transformation, and the promise of new beginnings. Every time we speak of rescue, we celebrate the journeys of those who have been freed from the chains that bind them. It’s a reminder that even in the darkest moments, light can break through, and love can prevail.
“Rescue” is a word that encapsulates the essence of what it means to be brought from darkness into light. When we share stories of rescue, we honor the struggles and triumphs of those who have found their way back to hope, and we reflect the heart of the Rescuer who never stops seeking and saving those that are lost.
Let us celebrate the countless rescues that have taken place and continue to unfold, affirming that rescue is not just a word—it’s a beautiful promise of what is possible for all of us. To deny the word "rescue" is, in essence, to deny the very nature of the Rescuer—the One who sees us in our need and acts to bring us into freedom 🤍
“For thus says the Lord God: Behold, I, I myself will search for my sheep and will seek them out. As a shepherd seeks out his flock when he is among his sheep that have been scattered, so will I seek out my sheep, and I will rescue them from all places where they have been scattered on a day of clouds and thick darkness."
Ezekiel 34:11-12
