John said he was the “Friend of the Bridegroom.”
What he was saying was — He was called to serve Christ as a Best Man/Maid of Honor serves the Bridegroom or the Bride!
That’s why he said “He must Increase and I must Decrease!!” He understood what it meant to get out of the way and spotlight — so Christ could step into it and his name be lifted up and glorified!
“He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled. [30] He must increase, but I must decrease.”
John 3:29-30
How well are you serving Christ?? Are we serving him well, you know like in the role of being the “Best Man” who takes on the mission of serving the bridegroom?
After all, the Christian’s true Joy comes when he sees the happiness on the Bridegrooms face and the wedding gets carried out according to plan!
