Freedom Through Surrender

“Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” 2 Corinthians 3:17

Devotional:
Freedom isn’t found in independence; it’s found in surrender. The Spirit brings freedom not when you take control, but when you release it. Not when you strive, but when you yield.

We often think surrender means weakness, but in the kingdom of God, surrender is strength. It’s the moment you stop fighting battles you were never meant to carry. It’s the moment you stop trying to fix yourself and let God transform you. It’s the moment you stop resisting His leading and start trusting His heart.

Where the Spirit is welcomed, freedom flows. Where He is resisted, bo***ge lingers. Renewal happens when you stop clinging to your own way and open your hands to God’s way.

Today, ask the Spirit to fill every place you’ve been holding tight. Freedom is found where He is Lord.

Prayer:
Holy Spirit, I surrender. Fill every part of my life and lead me into true freedom. Break every chain that has held me back. Amen.

Freedom From the Past

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!” Isaiah 43:18–19

Devotional:
The past has a way of trying to follow you... old mistakes, old wounds, old patterns, old identities. But God says clearly: do not dwell there. Not because your past is irrelevant, but because it’s redeemed.

God isn’t asking you to erase your past; He’s asking you not to live in it. The resurrected life is forward-facing. It’s anchored in what God is doing now, not what happened then. When God says, “I am doing a new thing,” He’s inviting you to release the old so you can receive the new.

Sometimes the hardest part of freedom is letting go of who you used to be. But God is not holding your past against you; so why hold it against yourself?

Today, ask God to help you release anything from your past that still tries to define you. The new thing is already springing up.

Prayer:
Lord, help me release the past. Heal what still hurts and silence what still accuses. Open my eyes to the new thing You are doing in my life. Amen.

Freedom From Fear

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7

Devotional:
Fear is a thief. It steals peace, joy, courage, and clarity. It convinces you to shrink back when God is calling you forward. It magnifies what-ifs and minimizes God’s promises. But fear is not from God, which means you don’t have to accept it as part of your life.

Paul reminds Timothy that fear is a spirit, something that tries to influence, intimidate, and overwhelm. But God gives a different spirit: power to stand firm, love that casts out fear, and a sound mind that stays steady when emotions swirl.

Living free means recognizing fear’s voice but refusing to obey it. It means stepping into situations with courage not because you feel brave, but because God is with you. It means letting truth, not terror, shape your decisions.

Today, name the fear that’s been speaking the loudest, and declare that it has no authority over a resurrected life.

Prayer:
God, break fear’s influence in my life. Fill me with power, love, and a sound mind. Help me walk in courage, not intimidation. Amen.

Freedom From Shame

“Those who look to Him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.” Psalm 34:5

Devotional:
Shame is one of the heaviest burdens a person can carry. It doesn’t just accuse what you’ve done; it attacks who you are. Shame whispers, “You’re not enough. You’re too broken. You’re too far gone.” But Scripture says those who look to God are radiant, not ashamed.

Shame thrives in secrecy. It grows in the dark. But the moment you lift your eyes to God; the moment you let His love meet you in the place you’re most afraid to expose; shame loses its grip. God doesn’t turn away from your brokenness. He moves toward it with compassion.

Jesus didn’t just die for your sin; He died for your shame. He carried it so you wouldn’t have to. The resurrected life is a shame-free life, not because you’re perfect, but because you’re forgiven.

Today, let God speak into the place where shame has lived too long. Lift your eyes. Radiance is your portion.

Prayer:
Lord, break the power of shame in my life. Let Your love cover every place I’ve hidden. Make my face radiant with Your grace. Amen.

WEEK 2: LIVING FREE
Freedom Begins With Truth

“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32

Devotional:
Jesus doesn’t say effort sets you free. He doesn’t say discipline sets you free. He doesn’t say trying harder sets you free. He says truth sets you free. Freedom begins when lies lose their power... lies about who you are, what you’re worth, what God thinks of you, and what your future holds.

The enemy’s primary weapon is deception. If he can distort your identity, he can disrupt your freedom. If he can twist your past, he can weaken your confidence. If he can whisper lies long enough, he can make bo***ge feel normal. But Jesus speaks truth that cuts through every lie. Truth about your identity, your belonging, your forgiveness, your purpose, & your future.

Knowing the truth isn’t just intellectual. It’s experiential. It’s letting God’s voice become louder than your inner critic. It’s letting Scripture rewrite the narratives shame has written. It’s letting grace speak where guilt once ruled.

Today, ask God to reveal any lie you’ve been living under, and replace it with His truth. Freedom begins where truth is believed.

Prayer:
Jesus, reveal truth to my heart. Expose every lie that has held me back and replace it with Your voice. Set me free through Your truth. Amen.

Living the Resurrected Life

“I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.” John 10:10

Devotional:
Jesus didn’t rise so you could live a half-life... weary, defeated, overwhelmed, or spiritually numb. He rose so you could live fully alive. Not perfect. Not pressure-filled. Alive. Awake. Whole.

The resurrected life is marked by joy that circumstances can’t steal, peace that chaos can’t shake, hope that darkness can’t dim, and purpose that seasons can’t erase. It’s not a life free from hardship; it’s a life filled with Him.

Living fully alive means letting Jesus into every part of your story... the broken parts, the hidden parts, the hopeful parts, the fearful parts. It means letting resurrection touch not just your eternity, but your everyday.

As Week 1 closes, let this truth settle deep: Resurrection isn’t an event you celebrate once a year. It’s a reality you live in every day.

Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for giving me life to the full. Help me live awake, alive, and anchored in Your resurrection power. Let every part of my life reflect the victory You’ve won. Amen.

Raised for Purpose

“We were therefore buried with Him… that we too may live a new life.” Romans 6:4

Devotional:
Resurrection isn’t just about salvation; it’s about purpose. You weren’t raised to wander. You weren’t raised to survive. You were raised to live a new life... one marked by purpose, calling, and Spirit-led direction.

Burial represents what’s been left behind. Resurrection represents what you’re stepping into. Too many believers live stuck between the two... forgiven but not free, saved but not walking in purpose. But resurrection invites you to move forward, to step boldly into the life God designed for you.

This new life isn’t defined by your past. It’s defined by God’s promise. It’s shaped by His Spirit. It’s fueled by His grace. And it’s aimed toward His glory.

Today, ask God to show you what “new life” looks like in this season... new habits, new courage, new obedience, new opportunities. Resurrection always leads somewhere.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for raising me to new life. Show me the purpose You’ve prepared for me and give me courage to walk in it. Amen.

Attended the annual Pre-Easter retreat at Alto Frio Baptist Encampment! There’s just something so special about stepping away for a few days and watching God move in fresh, powerful ways… especially in our youth!

This year’s experience was nothing short of incredible. Every year we come to celebrate the same story… the death and resurrection of Jesus, and every year He reveals something new, something deeper, something more personal.

This weekend, we saw 4 students commit their lives to Christ and 7 recommit their lives to Him. {STILL REJOICING!!!!} But beyond the numbers… there were countless moments of prayer, worship, laughter, tears, and real, genuine connection.

There is something so powerful about watching the next generation grow in their faith. Watching them worship together. Cry together. Encourage one another. Pray boldly for each other. It’s humbling, it’s beautiful, and it’s a reminder that God is still moving in BIG ways.

So grateful for every student, every leader, and every moment that made this weekend what it was. My heart is full. 🤍

God is not done… He’s just getting started.🙌🏼

Happy Easter, fam! HE IS RISEN!

Dead to Sin, Alive to God

“Count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.” Romans 6:11

Devotional:
Paul doesn’t say sin is dead... he says you are dead to it. That means sin no longer has authority over you. It can tempt you, but it can’t own you. It can whisper, but it can’t command you. The resurrected life breaks sin’s power, not by making you perfect, but by making you free.

“Count yourselves dead to sin” means you must actively agree with what God says is true. Sin may still knock, but you don’t have to answer. Old patterns may still call, but you don’t have to return. You are alive to God... responsive to His voice, empowered by His Spirit, strengthened by His grace.

Renewal happens when you stop fighting sin in your own strength and start living from the victory Jesus already won. You don’t overcome sin by trying harder; you overcome by living alive.

Today, declare this truth over yourself: I am dead to sin. I am alive to God. And resurrection power is my strength.

Prayer:
Jesus, help me live alive to You. Break the pull of old patterns and strengthen me to walk in freedom. Thank You for the victory You’ve already won. Amen.

Set Your Mind on Things Above

“Since you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above…”
Colossians 3:1

Devotional:
Paul connects resurrection with perspective. If you’ve been raised with Christ, your mind and heart must rise too. Resurrection isn’t just about new life; it’s about new focus. You can’t live a resurrected life with a graveyard mindset.

Setting your heart on things above doesn’t mean ignoring earthly responsibilities. It means interpreting them through heaven’s lens. It means remembering that your life is anchored in eternity, not anxiety. It means lifting your eyes from what drains you to the One who sustains you.

When your focus shifts, your spirit follows. Worry loses its grip. Fear loses its volume. Stress loses its authority. Resurrection lifts your perspective so you can see beyond what’s temporary and cling to what’s eternal.

Today, lift your gaze. Ask God to help you see your circumstances through resurrection eyes... eyes that recognize He is sovereign, present, and working even when you can’t see it.

Prayer:
God, lift my perspective. Help me set my heart and mind on things above. Renew my focus so I can live fully in the resurrected life You’ve given me. Amen.

The Power That Raised Him

“The Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you.” Romans 8:11

Devotional:
This verse is almost too big to grasp. The same Spirit who hovered over the waters at creation… who breathed life into Adam… who empowered Jesus’ ministry… who rolled the stone away… now lives in you. Not visits you. Not inspires you. Lives in you.

That means resurrection power isn’t something you strive for; it’s something you carry. You don’t walk into battles alone. You don’t face temptation empty-handed. You don’t endure hardship with human strength. The Spirit who conquered death itself is your helper, your advocate, your strength.

But many believers live unaware of this power. We pray small prayers, expect small outcomes, and live small lives because we forget who lives within us. Renewal happens when you stop seeing yourself as powerless and start recognizing the Spirit’s presence as your source.

Today, ask God to awaken your awareness of His Spirit. Not in a mystical way, but in a deeply practical one... strength in weakness, wisdom in confusion, courage in fear, peace in chaos. Resurrection power is not distant. It’s in you.

Prayer:
Holy Spirit, awaken me to Your power within me. Help me live with confidence, courage, and awareness of Your presence. Strengthen me with resurrection power today. Amen.
