Journey of Faith update:

As we move towards July and the proposed parish mergers (going from 8 parishes with 8 churches into 2 parishes with 8 churches), Archbishop Lucas has asked us for suggestions for new names for the 2 parishes. This is asking one of the saints in heaven to pray for each of the new parishes formed in this process. This does not change any of the church names. Each of the 8 church buildings has been consecrated to their specific saint, so their name cannot, and will not change.

The deadline for submission is Monday, February 12.

The FPPT (Family of Parishes Planning Team), which has a representative from each of the 8 church communities, will meet to compile the names and submit three name suggestions for each of the two new parish entities (six names will be sent in total) to Archbishop Lucas. He will then ultimately choose a name for each new parish entity. He is not required to choose from the names that are submitted, though he has asked for input from all of us, so let's give him our best ideas!

We've received 50 submissions so far. Some suggestions are the same, and some did not meet the criteria.

AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM FR. PAT

Unfortunately, after testing for COVID-19 on Aug 10, I was notified on Aug 12 of a positive result. Although the health department believes THE RISK TO PARISHIONERS IS LOW, the North Central District Health Department (NCDHD) provided the following guidelines:

For those who had contact with me from 7-31 to 8-7:
The North Central District Health Department feels that YOUR RISK IS LOW as I did not have any contact with you during the time I could spread the virus to others. They do feel the following recommendations are appropriate: you are NOT in quarantine at this time, however, you should monitor yourself for symptoms. Should you have any symptoms, you should immediately isolate yourself from others and contact your provider about getting tested. NCDHD also recommends that you follow the social distancing guidelines (stay more than 6 feet away from others) and wear a mask when you are in public. If you have questions, you can reach NCDHD at 402-336-2406.

For those that attended Mass at St. Francis or Our Lady of Mount Carmel on August 8 or 9:
I have been in contact with North Central District Health Department to determine the steps my parishioners and others that attended Mass on August 8, 2020 and August 9, 2020 should take. NCDHD advises that I would have been contagious (able to spread the virus to others) during this time, and thus NCDHD has shared and recommends the following: NCDHD would like you to monitor your symptoms, should you develop any symptoms, such as, cough, fever, loss of taste or smell, fatigue, muscle aches, headache, you should immediately isolate yourself from others and contact your provider about getting tested. NCDHD also recommends that you should follow strict social distancing guidelines (stay more than 6 feet away from others) and wear a mask when you are out in public. Overall NCDHD feels that YOU ARE AT LOW RISK unless you spent more than 15 minutes within 6 feet of me and should follow the above guidelines. If you have any questions, you can reach NCDHD at 402-336-2406.

At the moment, I feel fine. Please call me if you have questions, 402-887-4521. I am so sorry about this.
Fr. Pat
