Happy Friday, Hope!
Rally Weekend is upon us! This Sunday is when we lay out our fall plans and invite you to get in the game. I’ll lay out some of those plans here.
Two Worship Services
We are back to two worship services this Sunday, August 30 at 9:00 AM and 10:30 AM at PinSocial. HopeKids will be available at the 9:00 AM service and nursery available at both services.
Ignition
Ignition is our high school youth group. It will kick off Sunday, September 13 at 5:00 PM. You can sign your child up at hopeiowacity.org/ignition. Ignition will also be where we cover Confirmation material, so let me know if you have questions.
Get Involved
We would love for you to join one of our ministry teams. We need more people to help with set-up and tear-down, our production team (think sound, lights, slides), hospitality team (greeting and more), HopeKids, nursery volunteers, and keys players for our worship team. Head to hopeiowacity.org/volunteer to sign up or learn more.
Budget Meeting
This might be the most well-attended budget meeting of all time. Why? Because it is going to be held at our prospective new building! Join us following the 10:30 AM worship service (approximately 11:45 AM) at 70 Kansas Ave in North Liberty to hear about our budget for the next year and see the building.
Jump into the Gospel of John
Our year-long theme has been Jesus for Real: One Year. Four Gospels. Infinite Hope. Maybe you have kept up on the readings all year. Maybe you haven’t done any of the reading at all. Maybe you are somewhere in-between. Regardless, I can’t think of too many better things to do this fall than to read the Gospel of John as a church family and have daily email reflections sent to your inbox. Go to lutheranchurchofhope.org/jesus-for-real to learn more.
This is not a list of hoops to jump through to be in good standing with God. These are a ton of opportunities to engage your faith in a way that builds God’s Kingdom. Pick one or two things and let’s go!
I hope to see you Sunday where we will talk about the life-changing conversation Jesus had with the criminals who surrounded him on their crosses while Jesus was on his.
Blessings,
Pastor Brody
