💥 The King’s Word of the Day
📖 Romans 8:11 — “But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.”
This morning, as I was driving and reflecting on this verse, I had one of those moments that tested everything I say I believe. I was driving the speed limit, just cruising in the left lane, when this young woman flew up behind me. I’d just passed a police officer, so I wasn’t about to go any faster. Before I could even move over, she whipped around me, looked right at me, flipped me off, and stuck out her tongue—mocking me the whole way. Then she cut back in front of me and slammed on her brakes.
Everything in me wanted to react. I went to reach for my phone, thinking I’d record her plate, maybe even speed up and let her know she was wrong. But right then, the Holy Spirit whispered, “No. Just let it go.”
And instantly, it hit me—this is the “if.”
If the Spirit of God truly lives in you, it should change how you respond.
If the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead dwells in you, then that same Spirit gives life—not just eternal life, but life in the moment. He gives peace when anger rises, restraint when pride wants to speak, calm when chaos hits.
A lot of people say they have the Spirit. But if you still live, think, and react according to the flesh—your old self—then maybe it’s time to pause and ask if you’ve really surrendered. Because when the Spirit is in you, there’s fruit. There’s evidence.
And here’s the truth: if I’d reacted the way I wanted to, I could’ve gotten into an accident, gotten a ticket, or even brought embarrassment to my job—because my work truck has my company logo on it. But the Spirit held me back. That restraint wasn’t weakness; that was life. That was proof.
So the question isn’t, Do you know about the Spirit?
The question is, Does the Spirit really dwell in you—and do you let Him lead?
Because if He does, it will show up in the moments that test you most.
So when traffic gets tight, when tempers flare, when someone cuts you off or disrespects you—what comes out of you? Are you the road rager, the antagonist, or the peacemaker the Spirit called you to be?
