The JOY Group had a wonderful evening out at the Barn Theatre to see Jesus Christ Superstar! 🎭

It was a lovely evening with good company and a little unexpected excitement! Near the end of the show, the cross started leaning… and then Jesus took a tumble onto the floor!

The curtains quickly closed, and after about five minutes, they opened back up so the cast could finish the performance.

Definitely an evening the JOY Group won’t forget!

What if following Jesus isn’t about avoiding the messy parts of life—but finding joy in the middle of them?

That was the challenge Pastor Matt gave us Sunday.

Sometimes following Jesus means stepping off the smooth path and into the mud, the mess, the interruptions, and the places we’d rather avoid.

Jesus says, “Take up your cross and follow me.” For the first disciples, those words meant something very different than they do for us today.

So what does it mean for us, right now, in 2026?
Maybe it means being willing to step off the easy, comfortable path. To love when it’s difficult. To welcome interruptions. To choose courage instead of fear. To pay attention to the people Jesus paid attention to.

Because following Jesus doesn’t promise an easy life. Following Jesus means choosing a life that isn’t defined by fear or death, but by hope, courage, love, and a joy.

What does it look like for YOU to take up your cross and follow Jesus?

What if the thing you’re afraid of is exactly where God is calling you?

We’re so grateful for Henry and the way he shared his story and faith with us during Youth-Led Sunday last week. ❤️ His message about Joshua, courage, calling, and stepping into discomfort gave us a lot to think about.

God told Joshua, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid… for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

And maybe that’s something we all need to remember.
God’s call doesn’t always come in a big, obvious way. Sometimes it’s a quiet nudge. Sometimes it’s an opportunity that feels way too big. Sometimes it’s simply the next step that makes us uncomfortable.

What might God be nudging YOU to do that you’ve been afraid to try?

You don’t have to have it all figured out. You just have to be willing to take the next step—and trust that God is with you.
And sometimes, that uncomfortable step is exactly where we grow. ❤️
