Ash Wednesday at Cal Lutheran – A Day of Prayer, Forgiveness, and Blessing

Join us on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, as we enter the sacred season of Lent with a time of reflection, renewal, and grace.

🌿 Ashes & Blessings on the Go – Stop by the Flagpole anytime between 7:45 AM and 2:15 PM to receive ashes, a prayer, and a moment of quiet reflection as you go about your day.

🎶 Ash Wednesday Service – Gather in Samuelson Chapel at 4:00 PM for a beautiful service of worship and renewal, featuring the voices of the CLU Choir.

No matter where you are on your journey, all are welcome to receive, reflect, and begin the season with a spirit of hope.

As Ramadan begins, we at California Lutheran University acknowledge and honor this special time! During the 30 days of Ramadan, Muslims around the world will be fasting and praying for spiritual growth. We honor members of our Beloved Community who observe this holy month by remembering its significance in their lives. Let’s join together to celebrate the blessings of this spiritual period as we wish our friends and loved ones a blessed Ramadan! Wishing you all peace, health and happiness during this special month. Eid Mubarak! 🌙💫✨

The Community Cupboard, located within the Samuelson Chapel, serves many current CLU students who face food insecurities during their time at Cal Lutheran. Our Cupboard provides non-perishable food, grocery gift-cards, and meals at our on campus eateries.

Our Community Cupboard is 100% funded by donations.

Today, on Cares Day, we are raising funds to help grow and improve our Community Cupboard to better serve our campus community.

Today was our first University Chapel Service to kick off our theme for this academic year, Loose Ends!

This theme was selected to speak to the ways in which many of us are struggling with a lot of change. So many things have happened, some joyous and exciting while others have been unpredictable and hard. We may be feeling like things are moving at an uncomfortable pace, or not fast enough. Some things may feel as though they are up in the air.

There are a lot of loose ends…. Where is God in all this?

Pastor Hazel Salazar-Davidson is a gift to our community. She challenged us, loved us, and blessed us. We are so grateful for the ways in which her ministry have enriched our community.

Today, was Pastor Hazel's last time preaching as our Campus Minister. Some of us (as you can see) are not quite ready to let her go but we know that we will still be embraced by her spirit, wisdom, and laughter through her next call. Thank you for everything, Pastor Hazel!
