In Tribute
DONALD ANTHONY DOUROUX
On behalf of Dr. April Brown Parker, Executive Director, and the Executive Board of the Heritage Music Foundation; we pay tribute and extend our heartfelt love to the memory of a very special, extraordinary man!
We extend our deepest love, support, and heartfelt prayers of comfort and peace, to our Founder/Organizer: Dr. Margaret Pleasant Douroux, his wife of 57 years; children: Mardone, Derrick, and Donald Jr.; grandchildren: Jewel, Crystal, Michael, Donald III, and A’tujuan; great-granddaughter, Jade; and the entire Family.
He was a dutiful son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, son-in-law, cousin, devoted and loving husband, partner, helpmate; protector of his children/family; doting grandfather, great grandfather; deacon of the church, expositor extraordinaire of God’s Holy Word; a bold witness for the Lord Jesus Christ; a skilled brick mason; a laid back, cool, player of the bass guitar; a very well-rounded man; and a very likable guy to anyone who was privileged to meet and know him.
What is the real measure of a man? Not his height, weight, handsome face, his charm, quick wit, and sense of humor, nor his Herculean abilities. He is measured by his spiritual depth and honest walk with God Almighty….and the powerful, positive impact he has on those around him. He is measured by the love, wisdom, support, and patience he exercised in raising his children. He is measured by his obedience to God…being the ‘spiritual priest’ in the home, and the hedge around his family; deeply rooted in the instructions of the Lord.
He is measured by the strength and ease in which he has partnered with his wife; loving her and giving her the freedom within their marriage to pursue her dream; traveling our nation, in her quest to preserve and nurture the history and legacy of Gospel Music, in building “The Gospel House.” His support and encouragement in the use of her God-given gifts of music and song, encouraging her career path and ministry wherever God guided them, is now legendary; but was literally unheard of in conventional marriages when they started their journey together. His presence at every effort and event sponsored by the Heritage Music Foundation; was part and parcel of its ongoing 40 years…still standing history and success. He dedicated himself to support HMF in every way possible. The deep void that is left within our hearts as we bid him farewell…and take joy in the ascension of his soul, will be filled with memories of his smiling face, his friendly demeanor, and his beautiful spirit.
