The Church traditionally dedicates the month of September to Our Lady of Sorrows.

As a parish family, may we spend this month close to Mary, who knows what it means to love faithfully through suffering. Let us bring her our own sorrows and the needs of those we love, asking her to lead us ever closer to her Son.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus reminds us that discipleship is not always the easy road. Peter wants to protect Jesus from suffering, but Christ reveals that God’s plan leads through the Cross.

We are called to follow Jesus in the same way. Whether our crosses are visible or hidden, we do not carry them alone. Christ walks with us.
