Live With Honor!

“Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭10‬-‭12‬ ‭NIV‬‬

There are many ways to live life. Some are significantly better for you than others therefore they should be pursued by us. The general idea is that we should be people of character and honesty, people who can be trusted. If we choose the high road in life, we will find the goodness of life.

One such name or way in life is called to live with honor. Honor means to live to a high standard never giving up our calling to be people of real character. How do we live such a life in a world that relishes cheating, lying and selfish behavior? We never give up our passion for the Lord. Because of his great love for us, we place others above ourselves, honoring them in words and deeds. We can truly live with honor if we have a fervor for God and his compassion for all.

To live to a high standard takes an example that shows us in every way the path to a life of extraordinary love and faithful prayer. That standard is our Lord God Almighty. To live with honor shows a heart that committed to goodness and righteousness. No where can this be found except in the salvation of Jesus Christ!

Don’t Be Foolish-

“If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.”
‭‭James‬ ‭1‬:‭5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

If you have the choice of gaining exactly what you need in any situation, would we ask for something foolish or something full of direction and vision? Since we seek knowledge and wisdom for our lives, my guess would be we would seek wisdom! When God asked Solomon what he desired the most, his answer was wisdom. This so pleased God that He gave everything else to him in abundance.

God’s word tells us if we need wisdom, our generous God will give it to you. God’s desire is for us to seek his wisdom, seek him in all things. Then, our lives will be led not by the foolishness of this world but by our Father himself. Scripture tells us if we ask we shall receive and God intends to give us his wisdom without rebuke or limitation.

I know that I need wisdom beyond my capacity nearly everyday. We now know we can receive his wisdom every time we ask. What a great gift for our lives to walk in wisdom instead of foolishness.

God Is Eternal!

“And I know that whatever God does is final. Nothing can be added to it or taken from it. God’s purpose is that people should fear him.”
‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭3‬:‭14‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I have heard that there are many examples of people accomplishing something that would be deemed near perfect. How about a bowler who bowls a perfect 300 game. Then you have a baseball pitcher who throws a perfect game where no one gets on base the entire game. We celebrate those efforts where someone excelled in some endeavor that one time. Well, how about someone who has always done everything perfectly?

The word tells us that whatever God does is final and that it is done perfectly according to his will. We humans go crazy about hitting a mark of near perfection just once in our lives like a hole in one in golf. But stop and think about our Lord who has done everything even before time was recorded, perfectly. His actions are not only perfect but they are final. Name for me one thing that someone else was able to change from what God has decreed?

Nothing can be added or taken away from God’s purpose. His purpose concerning us is our salvation and our reverence we have for him. He has always been focused on our relationship with him and to see that relationship mature into one that honors him!
Know that the God that loves you always has and always will!

What Are You Bound To?

“Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭6‬:‭16‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I have come to the conclusion that we in our lives all serve something or someone. We may have an occupation that demands we do things a certain way, act a certain way. We may be engaged in an educational pursuit that gives us parameters in study and experience. We may even have clubs we belong to that dictate a certain way thinking or acting. We all serve something and for many of us that may be material things.

The reality in serving is that if we serve something, there is a bo***ge in that service. Paul tells us that if we choose to obey something you become a slave to that very thing. Paul goes on to deal with the issue of sin in all our lives. We can be slaves to sin or we can choose to obey God and become one who gains righteous living. Yes, you will become a bond servant of God but a God who brings life not death. What is it we choose to serve?

My prayer this morning is that you choose life! That you choose to obey the One who brings you peace not torment and death like sin does. We all serve something, make it something so glorious you will reveal in its goodness forever.

We Were Formed in God’s Image.

“Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭1‬:‭26‬-‭27‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Every time there is an effort to build something or construct a building, house or physical object, there is some kind of plan or blueprint that is used to construct it. The better the plan, the better the materials used the greater the structure is. Without a plan, it would very difficult to build anything of merit.

When God formed mankind, He had the best blueprint to use to bring about the existence of man, His own image. No where could you find a better model or example of what a living being endowed with a spirit should be like. God intended man to have dominion over the earth, to rule over God’s creations. What better plan could there be than to use the image, the character of himself to create this new creature?

God created man, formed him in God’s own image to fulfill God’s perfect plan of creation. Mankind was destined to rule over the earth and multiply in God’s plan for them. Yet, man sinned and lost dominion over the earth. God intends for us to reclaim that dominion through his Son, Christ Jesus. By his sacrifice, mankind can be restored in his relationship with God and again be the creation God intended him to be! We can again not only be formed in his image but live in his grace and purpose.

So my friends, we need to fulfill our destiny with our Father by being not only be formed in his image, but to walk in his will. Let us reclaim our rightful place of dominance in God’s kingdom by being redeemed by Christ Jesus our Savior and live the life the Father intended!

Time for Cleaning!

“Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me. Do not banish me from your presence, and don’t take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭51‬:‭10‬-‭12‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Every spring, thousands of households embark on a ritual known as spring cleaning. The houses get a cleaning that goes beyond the weekly chore of floors, counters and appliances. We deem this necessary for there has been an accumulation of dirt and grit in our houses in places we normally don’t see or care about. Our spiritual walk with the Lord needs such a cleaning to keep us both spiritually and emotionally where we need to be.

Create in me oh Lord a clean heart and renew my loyal spirit within me. Life has a way of making worldly deposits in our heart and spirit. We need to be reminded we need to cleanse our lives, our hearts and our thoughts on a regular basis so that the joy of the Lord and his salvation will be mine. The peace we receive when we are walking in God’s ways and living an obedient life passes all understanding. Like our houses, we need cleansing so our relationship with the Father can be exactly where it needs to be! Keep the heart clean so we may be used in a great way by our God to do his wonderful will in our lives.

Is it time for cleaning?
