“If you say that your faith saves you, Your faith has become a work..”

I understand the point being made. that it’s of God thru Christ- that it does not originate with Man. It is paramount for us to note that what was revealed with regard to scripture as per their understanding has been made more clear in our day & will continue to be made so as men “run to & fro and knowledge is increased”. Re: The quote above. -which conflates the idea of “ work” which is good & necessary before God with “works of the Law” which have been superceeded by faith under the newer & better covenant”- .. the statement “your faith has become a work” is misunderstood in that context! In fact, Jesus verifies exactly that! John 6:29- “the WORK of God IS to believe”. Spoken with the emphasis for the action(work) “to believe” fully on the individual to carry it out.

Predestination? YES! Only this: that things are Predestined from God’s Foreknowledge. Remember the divine order: “those He (1st) Foreknew, He ALSO (2nd) Predestined.. to be conformed to the IMAGE of the His Son.)
(Romans ). Notice- in the divine order Man’s choice/Will comes BEFORE God’s sovereign act. This is immutable although men, out of zeal (but not knowledge) deny it to “protect” God. So God has certainly dealt with Mankind according to His attribute of Grace over Sovereignty! He is big enough to USE the choices of men to achieve HIS will. In a man’s freedom there is accountability to His creator. The Lord uses YOUR choices to fulfill His will- whether for or against. Peter told Jesus, “Lord surely you cannot die- the Holy response, “get behind me Satan.” Peter, wrong by His own choice of failing to submit, God using it as a lesson for Peter’s growth. Growth Peter was required to participate in! example: “Let us believe not in Word only but also in deed!” The emphasis for the choice to act rests squarely on US! And God holds us firmly accountable though all things will surely turn out exactly as He has (1st) foreknown & thusly (2nd) Predestined.
