Welcome to Boston’s 2026 Homecoming

In 1801, Revolutionary soldier from Massachusetts, William Sparkman, settled on 320 acres on the headwaters of Leiper's Fork near the Duck River Ridge. In time, the Beasley, Davis, Marlin, Robinson, Skelley, Sudberry and Walls families became his neighbors. Later, the Carlisle, Denton, Hargrove, Haskell, King, McKee, Mealer, Shaw, Warf, and Wilkes families moved to the community, which took the name Boston.

The Boston church, meeting as a community of believers since 1832, erected a meeting house in 1854 on land donated by Elder Seth Sparkman and became a leading force in the Restoration Movement. Boston School, established in 1858, remained until 1956. From 1850 to 1936, Boston had a post office.

For the past 172 years the “unsearchable riches of Christ” have been preached from this pulpit. Among many capable preachers who served the Boston church are the late and beloved Maurice Thomason and, most recently, Ronnie Kephart.

We are pleased to welcome Ronnie back to Boston as our guest speaker this morning.

Following our services this morning everyone is invited to stay for a meal and an extended period of fellowship in the Annex.

When we've been able to go, the Harding University lectures have always encouraged us and built our faith. This sounds especially inspiring!
