From Pastor Curt:
To our neighbors in Spring Hill / Thompson’s Station,
Please accept my personal invitation to the Lord’s Sanctuary on the hillside of Buckner Road in Spring Hill / Thompson’s Station. As the pastor of the people of this congregation, I, also, consider myself a pastor for this community where Faith’s been planted. So, it’s for that reason … and, also, as I, and our members, are
families among you: working, living, playing and going to school with you, no doubt … we’d all like you to know of our commitment to, not only, being your good neighbor but, also, Christ’s Church in your midst, here to minister, as allowed, God’s graciousness which He distributes in some very specific ways that He’d committed to. To that end, we’re about the task of passing-on His successful Word (Isaiah 55:11) which the Bible is cover-to-cover (2 Timothy 3:16). We preach “Christ crucified and Him risen”, striving to live in recognition of ourselves because of His cross and empty tomb. We baptize all nations, withholding this (that’s connected to salvation) from no-one of any age (Matthew 28:19 and Mark 16:16). And we take the Lord at His Word when He says “Take and eat, this is My body” and “Drink of this cup, all of you, for this is My blood of the covenant, poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins” (Matthew 26:26-28). Hearing and believing His promise, we have a place and context to enter into where our Lord vowed to substantially be. He shows up, we know; and, so, we do to receive, personally, what He gives us to consume of Him. That having been said, we see ourselves as “stewards, (or caretakers), of His great mysteries” (1 Corinthians 4:1), so we not only baptize all nations, but respond to Jesus’ mandate to “teach them, then, to observe all that He’d commanded” (Matthew 28:20). We understand that “truth” is something we’re liable for, so you’ll notice that we choose to settle for nothing less … it’s for that reason that we strongly encourage consideration of truth issues (several you’ll find highlighted on the back, in topical questions that have answers … and independent and communal ways to discern them). And while that’s our goal, we gather to confess that we are, first, ourselves, sinners who struggle in that. As much, though, as we admit our struggle, we’re, also, folks who know where to find God’s mercy for our failings … so our time together begins by confessing to prepare us to hear His forgiveness upon our confession. And so, we choose to gather. We gather to bow before Him who is King, to seek (anew) His mercy and grace for us and, then, to receive, from Him, those gifts-of-His to grant us peace (therefore joy) for every one of our days into eternity. We gather, as well, out of our responsibility to each other … a duty to encourage one another, knowing that we’re not called to be loners, but, rather, fellow complimentary members of Christ’s body, the Church. As I respect your privacy, but wanted to introduce myself and us (therefore didn’t, just, knock on your door), please feel encouraged to call me on my cell phone any time you’d like … (615) 533-4636. If there is, even, the smallest question that you have about Christ’s Church, the role of Faith’s confession within it, and your invitation to such in Him, please don’t hesitate to ask. I’m certain that both of us will be better for having had the conversation. Until we get that chance to chat one day, to God be all glory, both now and into forevermore. Curt R. Hoover
