Good afternoon today we are in 1 Thessalonians chapter 5 verses 1 - 11 .
But before we start please keep our brothers and sisters in Kenya and the surrounding region in your prayers. The Epolo virus which is very deadly is spreading around the surrounding area as well,It’s a scary thing.

Now on to 1 Thessalonians chapter 5 verses 1 - 11

“Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you? have no need to be written to you? For you? yourselves thoroughly know that the day of the Lord comes in this way, as a thief in the night. When they may say, “Peace and security,” then suddenly destruction comes upon them, as the labor pains to her having in womb; and they shall not escape. But you?, brothers, are not in darkness, that the day should overtake you? like a thief. For you? are all sons of light and sons of day; we are not of night and not of darkness. So then let us not sleep [in spiritual indifference] as the rest [of the world does], but let us keep wide awake [alert and cautious] and let us be sober [self-controlled, calm, and wise]. For those sleeping, sleep by night; and those becoming drunk, get drunk by night But since we [believers] belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope andconfident assurance of salvation For God has not destined us to [incur His] wrath [that is, He did not select us to condemn us], but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ the One having died for us, so that whether we may watch or we may sleep, we may live together with Him Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as also you? are doing.”

Paul makes a distinction between the world ( them ) and a believer ( us ). he goes on to clarify the two.
The world ( peace and safety, thief in the night ) believers ( children of light, children of the day )

We are to be watching for Jesus’ return for His bride.

We ( and this is a big statement that is full to over flowing) are not appointed to experience God’s wrath. We do experience satan’s wrath, and man’s wrath which is unrighteous, and unjust.
Jesus died the death we deserved. Jesus took God’s wrath in our place. The 7 year Tribulation is when God pours His wrath on the earth. That is for Israel’s redemption, and Jesus punishing the unrighteous deeds of Man, the nations, and satan’s deception on the nation’s and mankind since Adam and Eve fell from grace, when they believed satan’s first lie.
There is so much more here.
Psalm 150
“Hallelujah! Praise God in His sanctuary. Praise Him in His mighty heavens Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness! Praise him with a blast of the ram’s horn; praise him with the lyre and harp! Praise Him with tambourine and dancing; praise Him with strings and flute. Praise Him with clashing cymbals; praise Him with resounding cymbals. Let everything that has breath praise the LORD! Hallelujah!”
Amen

Good afternoon, today we are looking at 1 Thessalonians chapter 4 verses 15 - 18

1 Thessalonians chapter 1 verse 10 says “ and to await His Son from the heavens, whom He raised out from the dead—Jesus, the One delivering us from the coming wrath”
Here Paul( in the verses today ) expands upon that point. This is a great Hope of all of that died in Christ, and a great Hope, for all who are living as Christ bride all around the world.

1 Thessalonians chapter 4 verses 15 - 18

“By the word of the Lord, ( directly) we declare to you that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who have fallen asleep
because the Lord Himself with a loud command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God will descend from heaven, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain [on the earth] will simultaneously be caught up (raptured) together with them [the resurrected ones] in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord Therefore comfort one another with these words”

This is a great Hope! Not a hope so, but a sure promise from the Lord Jesus Himself. We will meet Jesus in the air, whether we are dead or alive, the trumpet will sound, a voice of an archangel will shout, those alive when that happens will be seized, caught up, or as we know it the rapture. What a great and wonderful Hope we have in the Lord Jesus. He will fulfilled that no doubt about it. You can bank on it. The camps that we will be in will either be the dead in Christ rising first and those that remain being transformed in the twinkling of an eye. Wow can’t wait.
We can firmly put the promise in our hip pocket and go about with confidence proclaiming the Gospel to all. Without any worry at all of our ultimate fate. Our flesh gets in the way for sure. But we are to comfort one another with these Words. Amen? Let’s go forth with confidence for the Lord. “Onward, Christian soldier marching as to war with the cross of Jesus, going on before” we will not have to face the coming wrath of God that is coming upon the whole world revelation chapter3 verse 10.
Can’t wait for the glorious appearing of our Lord.!

Good morning, today we are in 1 Thessalonians chapter 4 verses 9 - 14

Here is the question. Should we get involved with things like voting, joining the military, standing up to tyranny, etc. we also know from scripture how it all going to go down. So are we passive or not? We get some direction from today’s study.

1 Thessalonians chapter 4 verses 9 - 14
“Now concerning brotherly love, you⁺ have no need for one to write to you⁺, for you⁺ yourselves are taught by God to love one another For also you⁺ are doing this to all the brothers, the ones in all Macedonia. But we exhort you⁺, brothers, to abound more and to make it your ambition to live quietly andpeacefully, and to mind your own affairs and work with your hands, just as we directed you so that you will behave properly toward outsiders [exhibiting good character, personal integrity, and moral courage worthy of the respect of the outside world], and be dependent on no one andin need of nothing [be self-supporting But we do not want you⁺ to be ignorant, brothers, concerning those having fallen asleep, so that you⁺ should not be grieved, just as also the rest, those having no hope For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, so also through Jesus God will bring with Him those having fallen asleep”

There is a lot here to digest, but I would like to make a few points.
1) to answer the first question are we to be passive or not? We are to definitely strive to live a quiet life and mind our own business. We get that from this passage. But there is a season , or time for everything.
Ecclesiastes chapter 3 verses 1 - 8

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens A time to give birth and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to pluck up the planted a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to break down and a time to build up a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance a time to cast away stones and a time to gather stones, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing a time to seek and a time to lose, a time to keep and a time to cast away a time to tear and a time to sew, a time to be silent and a time to speak a time to love and a time to hate, a time of war and a time of peace”
I would recommend reading that book.
So we must understand what season we are in and get our directions from the Lord who knows all things.

2) how are we to view death?
As far as we believers are concerned.
2 Corinthians chapter 5 verse 8
“we are [as I was saying] of good courage andconfident hope, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord”

For those who don’t believe, well we try to tell them of their fate if they don’t put their faith and trust in Jesus.
John chapter 3 verses 16 - 18
“And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, thus it is necessary for the Son of Man to be lifted up, so that everyone believing in Him may have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave the Son, the only begotten, so that everyone believing in Him shall not perish but shall have eternal life
For God did not send the Son into the world that He might judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him The one believing in Him is not judged, but the one not believing already has been judged, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God”
So according to scripture if someone remains in their fallen state, they will be in hell forever. So if you don’t know Christ Jesus as your savior I would do that pronto.
Today is the day of salvation.
Amen?
