Today's Message from Pastor Cavanaugh was titled "The Trinity: Our Example for Living". This referenced Mark 1:9-13 which describes Jesus's baptism in which the Spirit came down like a dove and the heavenly voice confirmed Jesus as God’s beloved Son, showing divine approval and commissioning Him for His mission. The Trinity models the perfect relationship we are to reflect as Christians. This can be summarized as Love, Submission, Humility and Support.

Today's message from Pastor Cavanaugh focused on the readings from Acts 2:1-13 in which describes the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost, enabling the apostles to speak in various languages and marking the birth of the Church. The capacity to speak in different languages allowed the apostles to access a broad base of people from different regions to tell them about Jesus. It also is a representation of how Christian message can go beyond cultural borders with ease. Just think of the awe and wonder the apostles must have felt when they were endowed with the power of the Holy Spirit and this incredible gift. The Holy Spirit being given to the apostles is a sign that God is there and helping them to do his work. This verse teaches us about the power of the Holy Spirit and how it helps us to do God‘s will and follow our own calling. It makes us ask ourselves the question, how can we be receptive to the Holy Spirit guiding us to share God‘s message of love hope and salvation to others whatever obstacles we may face.

On this Memorial Day Sunday, Calvary Church would like to pay tribute to those who have passed and were laid to rest in our cemetery. Members Betty Snider and Aubrey Bowers, friends of the church, Frank Draughn and Ernest Perkins. The Memorial Association has also placed flags on all the Graves of those who served this great nation. Let us reflect in the words of John 15:13 "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends"
