Set Free Fellowship – One Day at a Time

Tonight’s reminder was simple but powerful: One day at a time. One task at a time. One minute at a time.

We reflected on Matthew 6:34 — “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” God calls us to focus on today, trusting Him with the rest.

Some of the things we talked about tonight:

• The Lord’s Prayer reminds us to ask for our daily bread.
• Just like the daily manna in Exodus 16:4, God gives us what we need for today.
• If I’m truly praying and trusting God… why am I worrying?
• Recovery and faith both teach us to live for today.

We also talked honestly about the battle of temptation. When we give in to old behaviors, we have to ask ourselves: what am I feeding — the Spirit or the flesh? The good news is that God is able to remove the desire for old habits and give us a new mind and heart.

A few other powerful reminders from the group:

• Scripture and the steps begin to make more sense with a clear mind and heart.
• Sometimes we hear something in a meeting that doesn’t click until later — but it still plants a seed.
• We’re not here to fix each other or force our will on anyone. We’re here to walk alongside one another.

We celebrated some victories tonight too:
• Getting through cravings without giving in
• Small daily wins that add up to big change
• Milestones in sobriety, including a 1-year alcohol-free surrender chip
• One member received unsupervised visits with their child

And we’re looking forward to next Thursday when Joe will be sharing his story.

Recovery is possible. Freedom is possible. And it starts one day at a time.
