School is starting. 🎒

There will be good days, and hard ones. New friendships, tough assignments, victories, mistakes, and plenty of things nobody can predict.

But there are some things we hope every student in our community knows as they head back.

To students, teachers, staff, coaches, and families: we’re praying for you as a new school year begins.

Share this with a student who could use the reminder. ❤️

1. Finding a church that faithfully teaches the Bible.
You need truth more than you need a church tailored to your preferences.

2. Being part of a real community.
Church gets messy when you actually know and love people.

3. Showing up consistently.
It’s hard to build meaningful relationships when you’re always somewhere else.

4. Serving somebody besides yourself.
Church isn’t just about what you receive—it’s also about what you give.

5. Being willing to be known.
Real community requires more than slipping in and out on Sunday morning.

6. Learning to love people you wouldn’t have chosen.
One of the beautiful things about the church is that Jesus does the choosing.

7. Singing even when it isn’t your favorite song.
Worship is bigger than your playlist.

8. Listening even when the sermon isn’t about you.
God’s Word doesn’t have to feel immediately relevant to be good for you.

9. Staying when relationships get difficult.
Sometimes spiritual maturity looks like working through conflict instead of walking away.

10. Letting other people serve you, too.
Being part of the body means admitting when you need the rest of it.

11. Praying for your church instead of just critiquing it.
It’s easy to spot what could be better. It’s harder to faithfully invest in it.

12. Remembering whose church it is.
The church belongs to Jesus. He is building it—and somehow, by grace, He invites imperfect people like us to be part of it.

They asked if they could take some pictures on Sunday, so I gave them a quick camera lesson and handed it over. 📸

Thankful for a church where our kids are surrounded by so many people who know them, love them, and point them to Jesus. ❤️ See you at 10:30am on Sunday!

Here are 10 of the most popular hymns right now. 🎹

Which one are you keeping forever? And which hymn is missing from this list?

The 2026–27 TRF Community Calendar is out! It’s packed with local school activities, community dates, and some great photos from Thief River Falls history.

(We’re also pretty excited to spot The Free Church on September’s page! 👀)

Calendars are just $5, with proceeds supporting the Peder Engelstad Pioneer Village. You can pick one up at The Times, Budget, or Pioneer Village.

🚨 BIG CHANGES COMING 🚨

Okay… maybe not that big. But Sunday School is getting a fresh start this fall!

We have a new curriculum called The Gospel Project, and Sunday School now begins 15 minutes earlier...now 9:00 am sharp!

It all kicks off Sunday, September 13 at 9:00 AM.

So crazy… it just might work. 😎

Church is a people, not just a program.

We gather to worship Jesus, hear His Word, pray and sing together. And when we gather, something else happens too: we get to know one another.

These little conversations before and after the service may not make it into the order of service, but they matter!

“Encourage one another and build one another up, just as in fact you are doing.” ~ 1 Thessalonians 5:11

1. Show up every Sunday.
Attendance can become a habit without ever becoming faith.

2. Sing every song.
Knowing the words isn’t the same as knowing the One you’re singing to.

3. Know all the Bible stories.
You can know a lot about God without actually knowing God.

4. Volunteer.
Serving at church can’t earn you a place in God’s family.

5. Give money.
Generosity is good—but it can’t buy grace.

6. Have Christian friends.
Being surrounded by Christians doesn’t make you one.

7. Know all the right Christian words.
You can learn the language of faith without living a life of faith.

8. Look like you have it all together.
Jesus didn’t come for people who could make themselves look righteous.

9. Agree with Christian morals.
Following Jesus is more than agreeing with what He taught.

10. Still miss Jesus.
Because Christianity isn’t ultimately about doing Christian things.

It’s about knowing, trusting, and following Christ.
