Support the next generation of faith leaders at St. Genevieve Youth Ministry.

Join us on Sunday, June 7, for a Chicken Stew Dinner with Peas and Bread at the St. Genevieve School Cafeteria from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Every plate sold helps fund youth ministry activities and sends teens to the Steubenville Conference, where they grow in faith, friendship, and purpose. Great food. Great cause. Strong impact on our youth and parish community.

We often focus on the victory of the empty tomb, but Holy Week calls us to look at the "stripes" that made it possible. The weight of our mistakes was lifted by His strength in the Passion that we will commemorate this week.

Today, remember that you aren't just "getting through" another Monday. You are walking with a God who stood at the pillar so that you would never have to stand alone in your own struggles. Your healing isn't just a future hope; it was already won.

Family of the Month: The Shields Family

We are proud to recognize Trey and Liddi Shields and their children, Harry (10), Julia (6), and Drew (2), as our Knights of Columbus Council 13397 Family of the Month for April.

The Shields family has been parishioners of St. Genevieve Parish for 12 years and is deeply rooted in both the parish and school community. Harry is in 4B and Julia is in Kindergarten A at St. Genevieve School, while Drew is already looking forward to joining his siblings in the years ahead.

Trey serves as Controller at Waguespack Oil and is an active member of Thibodaux Fire Company #1, where he also helps with the Firemen’s Fair Auction. Liddi works as a Personal Assistant at Broussard Wealth Management and enjoys volunteering at the school, helping with lunches and baking treats for students. She has recently started baking cookie cakes. Harry serves as an altar server at school Masses and is involved in 4H, golf, and flag football. Julia stays active with gymnastics, dance, and soccer, while Drew enjoys cheering on his siblings, especially with a sweet treat in hand.

For the Shields family, St. Genevieve is home for their spiritual life. They value the welcoming community and the joy of seeing familiar faces each Sunday as their children grow in faith. As a family, they enjoy spending time together over meals, followed by game nights, movie nights, or working on puzzles, always ending with something sweet.

Fun fact: both Trey and Liddi’s mothers have served as teachers at St. Genevieve School, continuing a strong family connection to the parish.

Please join us in celebrating the Shields family for their faith, service, and commitment to our parish community.

Dear Parishioners of St. Genevieve,

For more than twenty years, the Knights of Columbus Council 13397 has served the St. Genevieve parish and school community through faith and service. Our members assist with parish fundraisers, cook for community benefits, support charitable causes, and help wherever the parish needs an extra hand. This work has remained possible because of the generosity and encouragement of this parish family.

Over the years, our council gathered equipment and supplies used for these projects. Grills, cooking gear, event materials, and service equipment now sit in storage units and garages across Thibodaux. This arrangement worked for many years, yet it created challenges as our council continued to grow in service.

From the early days of the council, members shared a vision. One day the Knights would bring all resources into one place. A central location would help the council organize equipment, care for supplies, and better serve the parish and community.

I am pleased to share an important step toward this goal.

Because of the continued support from parishioners at our fundraisers, along with grants secured from local foundations, the Knights of Columbus will begin construction of a storage facility on the St. Genevieve property. The council secured a lease for a portion of the property which will house this building. This facility will serve as a central home for the equipment used in our charitable and parish activities.

This project reflects the strength of the St. Genevieve community. Your support at our events helped make this possible. Every plate served at a fundraiser, every raffle ticket purchased, and every act of encouragement helped move this vision forward.

On behalf of the Knights of Columbus, I offer sincere thanks to several groups who helped make this project possible.

We thank Fr. Eric for his leadership and encouragement.

We thank the staff and leadership team at St. Genevieve Parish.

We thank the Diocese of Houma Thibodaux for their support.

Most important, we thank the parishioners of St. Genevieve whose generosity continues to strengthen our mission.

The Knights remain committed to serving this parish and community with faith, charity, and brotherhood. This new facility will help our council continue that mission for many years ahead.

Vivat Jesus,

Neil Boudreaux

Members of the St. Genevieve Knights of Columbus Council 13397 recently presented a donation of $1,490 to the Bayouland Area of Special Olympics Louisiana. The funds came from the ice chest raffle held during the council’s 5th Annual KC 13397 Chili Cook Off.

The chili cook off brings the parish and local community together for a day of food, fellowship, and service. Through the support of raffle participants and event attendees, the council raised funds to support athletes in the Bayouland area who compete in Special Olympics programs throughout the year.

Special Olympics provides opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities to train and compete in athletic events while building confidence, friendships, and life skills. The Knights of Columbus remain proud supporters of this mission and value the chance to serve athletes in our local community.

Council 13397 thanks everyone who attended the chili cook off and supported the raffle. Your participation helps strengthen our community and supports the important work of Special Olympics Louisiana.

Family of the Month: The Duet Family

We are pleased to recognize Nick and Brandi Duet and their children, Nathan (5) and Avery (3), as our Knights of Columbus Council 13397 Family of the Month for March.

The Duet family has been parishioners of St. Genevieve Parish for four years and has quickly become an active part of the parish and school community. Nick teaches Physics and Introduction to Engineering at E. D. White Catholic High School, where he also serves as head coach for boys’ soccer and assistant coach for track. Brandi works at Woman’s Hospital in Baton Rouge as an OBGYN hospitalist, where she primarily works with LSU OBGYN residents.

Their family is involved in several parish and school activities, including Children’s Liturgy and the St. Genevieve School Home and School Association. Nathan currently attends St. Genevieve School in Young Kindergarten and enjoys participating in soccer and gymnastics. Avery will enter PreK at St. Genevieve next year and is already enjoying her first year of dance.

For the Duet family, St. Genevieve has been a welcoming place from the start. They appreciate the strong sense of community and the close partnership between the parish and school. Seeing familiar faces each weekend at Mass has helped make St. Genevieve feel like home.

As a family, they love spending time outdoors together. Whether it’s playing at the park down the street, taking walks and bike rides around the neighborhood, or cooking and playing in the backyard, they enjoy making the most of time together.

Please join us in celebrating the Duet family for their faith, involvement, and joyful presence in our parish community.
