Jacob lies. Rebekah schemes. Isaac is manipulated. Esau burns with anger.

Genesis 27 is not a story filled with heroes. It is a story filled with sinners.

And yet God's promise moves forward.

This Sunday in Grace in the Beginning, we'll see that the hope of the gospel is not found in perfect people, but in a faithful God.

God of the Deceivers
Genesis 27–28

Grace keeps moving even when we stumble.

Have you ever been through something that changed you?

Jacob wrestled with God and refused to let go without a blessing.
He walked away hurt, but not harmed.

Sometimes our struggles don’t break us.
God uses them to shape us.

Whatever you’re facing, God can use it for good.

In Genesis 22, Isaac asks the question at the center of the passage:

“Where is the lamb for a burnt offering?” (Genesis 22:7)
Abraham answers: “God will provide for himself the lamb.” (Genesis 22:8)

And He does.

This Sunday we’ll see how Genesis 22 points us beyond Abraham, beyond Isaac, and ultimately to Christ — the Lamb God provides.

Join us Sunday at 11:00 AM.

This Sunday in Grace in the Beginning, we come to Genesis 22 — one of the most sobering and powerful passages in Scripture.

Abraham is told to offer Isaac, the child of promise. But on the mountain, God reveals something greater:

“The LORD will provide.” (Genesis 22:14)

This is not ultimately a story about what Abraham gives to God. It is a story about what God provides.

The Lord Will Provide
Genesis 22

Jacob wasn’t perfect.
He deceived. He lied. He failed.

God still met him and promised to be with him wherever he will go.

That’s the kind of God we serve. He doesn’t work in your life because you’re perfect. He works because He is.

If you’ve failed, this message is for you. There is still hope.

In Galatians 4, Paul looks back at Isaac and Ishmael and says these two sons represent two completely different ways of approaching God. One comes through human effort. The other comes through promise. One is achievable naturally. The other requires the power of God.

“Now you, brothers, like Isaac, are children of promise.” (Galatians 4:28)

This Sunday we’ll see how Genesis 21 points beyond Abraham, beyond Isaac, and ultimately to Christ Himself.

For years Abraham and Sarah waited.

The promise had been spoken. The covenant had been made. But still there was no child.

And when the promise finally comes in Genesis 21, Scripture makes something very clear:

Isaac is given— not achieved.

“The LORD visited Sarah as he had said…” (Genesis 21:1)

This Sunday in Grace in the Beginning, we’ll explore why the birth of Isaac matters far beyond Abraham’s family—and how it points us to salvation itself.

Grace always arrives by God's promise.

Imagine waiting your whole life for something… and then being asked to give it back.

In Genesis 22, God tested Abraham’s faith after giving him the son he had waited decades for. It wasn’t about taking from Abraham. It was about revealing a deeper trust in God.

Abraham’s story points us to something greater. A God who provides. A God who brings life. Through Jesus Christ, we’re given the opportunity for new life.
