🚨 Have You Signed Up for the Medicaid Waiver Interest Lists?🚨

This is one of the most important resources we share with families on our Community Resource page of our website.

Many Texas Medicaid waiver programs have waiting lists that can span several years. Even if your child is young or you don't currently need services, joining can help ensure access to future supports and services when they are needed.

That's why we've added information about Medicaid Waiver Interest Lists—and many other valuable resources—to our Community Resources page.

💡 From housing and employment resources to transition planning, safety, advocacy, and support services, we're working to connect our community with information that can make a difference.

Today, June 4, 2026, is World Day for Assistive Technology.

Assistive technology changes lives. These innovations help people learn, work, and live independently every day.

Access to assistive technology is a right. Yet millions of people around the world still don’t have access to the tools they need.

When people have access to assistive technology, it means access to education, employment, and independence.

Let’s raise awareness, take action, and help create a world where everyone has the tools they need to thrive.

From June 4–6, Ruby Cabral, Orientation & Mobility/Activities of Daily Living Specialist, and Victoria Hillard, Manager of Education & Training, are proudly representing The Lighthouse of Houston at the Texas Focus Conference in Austin.

Hosted by the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired and guided by the theme “Together We Thrive: Pathways to Progress for Teams,” the conference brings together professionals from across the state to explore strategies and best practices for supporting students who are blind, deafblind, or have low vision.

We are incredibly proud of their dedication and leadership in representing our mission and organization.
