Worship every Sunday at Spirit of Joy! is casual, contemporary, with a traditional order. We are an intentionally intergenerational community - we believe that disciples of every age have gifts to offer. We worship both in-person at the church building and online here on our page. Rooted in the Lutheran tradition, our worship seeks to equip individuals and families with tools to live out

their faith in daily life. Find us in the Alden Bridge neighborhood, next to Bush Elementary (we share a driveway). Come and experience joy-filled, faith-growing, life-changing community.

As June begins, a reminder that at our church we believe that EVERYONE is made in the image of God.

We especially lift up our LGBTQ siblings and celebrate the diversity of gifts that they bring to the body of Christ.

Our community is intentionally inclusive, radically welcoming, and seek to protect the most vulnerable.

Yesterday, Pastor David sent out an important update:

"It is with a mix of grief and joy that I write to share the news that I have accepted a call to serve as Senior Pastor of Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Fairfax and Clifton, Virginia.

SOJOY has become a vibrant and joyful place — full of laughter, compassion, authenticity, and love. This ministry is not simply surviving, it is thriving. It is poised to grow into an even stronger and more deeply inclusive community in the years ahead.

I want to be very clear: I love Spirit of Joy! deeply, and I am not leaving because of dissatisfaction here. Quite the opposite. This is an extraordinary congregation in a very healthy place. I believe this community is ready for your next chapter of ministry and for the next pastor who will help lead you into it.

The God who has guided us this far will continue guiding Spirit of Joy! into a hopeful future.

I will be at Spirit of Joy! until June 30, at which point the Synod office will begin the work of helping to guide the congregation through the transition process. Until then I hope that we can celebrate the wonderful memories we have made and the relationships we have formed, while still continuing to do the important work of proclaiming God’s Kingdom."
