Chabad at of The Woodlands is a center for Jewish life in The Woodlands. We have Shabbat dinners, live and online classes, lots of other great activities. Rabbi and Rebbetzin Mendel and Leah Blecher welcome you to join us in celebrating Jewish life. Rabbi Mendel Blecher grew up in Melbourne, Australia and graduated with honors from Yeshivah College in both secular and Hebrew studies. He spent the

next few years studying in rabbinical colleges in Israel and the USA. He received his rabbinical ordination in Melbourne, Australia from the renowned halachic author Rabbi Feitel Levin, and subsequently was involved in the research and development of a cutting-edge Judaic curriculum for Jewish day-schools. From Purim in Tasmania, to voluntarily spending summers visiting Jews in Oregon and Germany, or leading services and classes across the USA. Rabbi Blecher’s pleasant demeanor and listening ear ensures an amiable encounter. For Leah, growing up in Winnipeg, Canada as a child of emissaries of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, she lives with the ideal of spreading the joys of Judaism to others around her. After graduating the Beth Chomesh School for girls in Toronto, Leah received her diploma in education from Machon Shoshana seminary in Jerusalem. Leah then spent a year directing extra-curricular programs in the Chabad school of Los Angeles. She formed enduring relationships with the students and positively influenced them through her warm, outgoing approach. Leah then turned to what would become her true passion, teaching. She has taught a wide range of ages in day-schools and Hebrew-schools. Her devotion to the students, coupled with a profound insight into the mind of a child, has earned the admiration of parents and students. Leah has also directed summer camps in the USA and Canada including a very successful overnight bat mitzvah camp. With their welcoming and non-judgmental approach, the Blecher’s are eager to share the joy and inspiration of Judaism with others, enhancing Jewish life in The Woodlands.

We want to tell you about Linda.

Linda is older and lives alone. It's hard for her to get around. When we knocked on her door to bring her Matzah, she was genuinely shocked. She couldn't believe we would do this just for her, especially since she doesn't consider herself "a knowledgeable Jew."

She hugged the Matzah box to her chest and said, "Rabbi, you have no idea how much this means to me."

That moment, in her simple apartment, is what this whole Pesach effort is about.

This year was our most ambitious Shmura Matzah distribution yet. With the help of community volunteers and interning yeshiva students, we shipped and delivered to 225 families, locally and beyond. The responses came pouring in.

Sheila texted: "Thank you for the artisan Shmura Matzah. It is a most wonderful gift, a very pleasant surprise."

Rachel messaged: "That seriously made my day to find it in the mail yesterday."

Cindy wrote: "Thank u for waiting for me today and for providing me with the matzoh… much appreciated. I just made a donation to Chabad. Wishing you a Happy and a Kosher Pesach."

And Judy emailed: "When I received that wonderful surprise visit from the yeshiva students and was given the precious homemade Matzah, I was overjoyed. I took the opportunity to send in a donation."

Before the holiday, Rabbi Blecher led discussions at Torah & Tea and in shul on Shabbat Hagadol. Our Hebrew School students practiced a model Seder and learned the Mah Nishtanah, going home ready to lead their own families.

Then came the first night Seder. We have had full Seders before. But this year, for the first time, we had to turn 10 people away from sheer lack of space. It's a good problem to have, and we are already working on a solution for next year..

The crowd that did make it in, was treated to a full, joyful Seder. At some point during the night, four-year-old Sholom Blecher took over with his singing, and the whole room was captivated. The second night Seder, led by the yeshiva students, was smaller and more intimate, with its own warmth.

Thank you to our supporters who made all of it possible. The deliveries, the open doors, the table that was so full we ran out of room.

Thank you for being part of this with us!
