Are you headed against the current of our broken world? 🐟

In a world where everyone goes with the flow, Jesus calls us to be countercultural rebels. Not rebels against authority, but against the broken norms of a fallen world. When culture says "avoid suffering at all costs," Jesus says "blessed are you when you face persecution for my sake" (Matthew 5:11-12).

The kingdom way of life challenges everything our Western culture tells us. We're called to be salt and light, a peculiar people who live differently. Like that one fish swimming against the current, we find God's hand reaching into our struggles, making us stronger through what the world tells us to avoid.

Paul discovered this truth: "My grace is sufficient for you." When we seek first the kingdom of God (Matthew 6:33) and embrace Jesus above all else, we gain the strength to face anything this world throws at us. The doing flows from the being—we act like kingdom people because we ARE kingdom people.

Which direction are you swimming? 🐟

Jesus was a countercultural rebel who turned the world's values upside down. When culture says "avoid suffering at all costs," Jesus says "blessed are you when you face persecution for my sake" (Matthew 5:11-12). When the world flows one direction, Jesus calls us to swim against the current.

Here's the truth: we aren't blessed BECAUSE we do what Jesus teaches. We do what Jesus teaches BECAUSE we are kingdom people. The doing flows from the being. When we seek first the kingdom of God (Matthew 6:33), we find the strength to face anything this world throws at us—not with fear, but with confidence in His grace.

As Paul discovered, it's often in our suffering that we experience God's hand most powerfully: "My grace is sufficient for you." Are you ready to be a radical, revolutionary rebel like Jesus? To live differently, love differently, and trust Him through it all?

What if you witnessed a sound like rushing wind, flames appearing over people's heads, and them speaking languages they'd never learned? Would that get your attention?

That's exactly what happened on the Day of Pentecost in AD 30. Peter stood before a massive crowd in Jerusalem and proclaimed a life-changing message: "God has made Him both Lord and Christ—this Jesus whom you crucified." Cut to the heart, 3,000 people asked, "What shall we do?" Peter's answer? "Repent and be baptized for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."

Here's the powerful truth: we've been living in "the last days" for over 2,000 years. The same Holy Spirit who transformed Peter from a denier into a fearless preacher is available to you today. The same gospel call that changed 3,000 lives in one day still has power to transform yours. Have you responded to God's call? Have you felt the weight of your sins and experienced the freedom of forgiveness?
