The Benediction - From today's 9/11 Memorial Service.

May God bless you with anger at injustice, oppression and exploitation of people, so that you may work for justice, freedom and peace. Amen.

May God bless you with tears to shed for those who suffer pain, rejection, hunger and war, so that you may reach out your hand to comfort them and to turn their pain into joy. Amen.

May God bless you with enough foolishness to believe that you can make a difference in the world, so that you can do what others claim cannot be done to bring justice and kindness to all our children and the poor. Amen.

The blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, be among you, and remain with you always. Amen.

Tomorrow, we will gather at 9:30 am for a Service of Remembrance in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the attacks of September 11, 2001. The service will conclude with the tolling of the bell.

Together, we will remember and honor the lives lost on that day, hold in prayer all those whose lives were forever changed, and look toward a future grounded in peace, hope, and reconciliation.

All are welcome to join us.

Some notes for dealing with conflict.
Based on Matthew 18:15–20 - and Father Santiago's sermon on Sunday.

1. Start with yourself.
Pray. Examine.
What happened?
What story am I telling myself?
Ask God to reveal the roots of the conflict.

2. Go directly to the person.
Jesus says to go privately.
Listen. Be curious.
Seek to understand;
not to solve, prove, or win.

3. Bring in another person when needed.
Someone emotionally mature and trusted by both.
Someone who won’t take sides or triangulate, but can offer perspective.

4. Sometimes the wider community is needed.
Let the community pray and discern.
Seek truth together.

The goal is always understanding,
and, if possible, communion.

You know what really creates conflict in a church? When the parson preaches for 17 whole minutes!!! 😂

Good thing Father Santiago preached a practical sermon about how to deal with conflict—because, apparently, he's got some experience in that department!

Watch the sermon and join the conversation: How do we faithfully navigate conflict when it inevitably arises?
