Joyful Almighty, you break into our Advent busyness promising glory and joy. Inspire to see beyond our longing for past glories. Move us beyond familiar criticism of ourselves and others. Open our eyes to see your compassion, already at work in our world; healing, restoring, strengthening, and telling the good news that you are near. Make us signs of your everlasting joy for your people and for all the world. We pray in the name of Jesus, whose nearness we proclaim. Amen. (copyright Amy B. Hunter)

Today, we choose to live the story of peace, believing that true peace comes when we seek the flourishing of all God’s creation.
We light the candle of peace as a sign of our commitment to bring Light to the places the world seeks to hide until that day when all creation lives together in harmony and abundance.

Everlasting Comforter, we begin our journey toward Christmas with hope stirring within. Teach us how to get ready. Show us how to prepare our hearts for Jesus. Help us walk in your ways, as we put on your Son, Jesus Christ. Guide us on our paths of peace and understanding, as we prepare our hearts anew for the road ahead. Amen.
