This pile of confetti could be seen as a mess left after youth group - but it means so much more than that. It shows growth. As ministers and especially as parents, sometime we cant see the fruit that Jesus is producing in the lives of our kids. So parents, this is for you:
Last night we wrapped up a four week series looking at God’s Call on our lives. We saw that His call requires faith, courage, and self-reflection. Capped of by asking the question “Do you believe that what God is calling you TO is bigger than what He is Calling you FROM?” A challenge was laid before our youth group last night: Drop the excuses, live holding nothing back, and respond to God with a faithful “Let’s GOOOOOO!”. These bits of papers are student’s reasons for not following Jesus with everything they have. Could be fear of the world, lack of faith, past sins they are ashamed of, worry over the future. We didnt see them as it was a personal challenge to them - anything they recognize as keeping them from seeing that God is bigger and better than anything they have. We challenged them to SHRED them and lay them before God. And they DID! They responded in boldness and faith as one-by-one they came and tossed their excuses down. We are praising God for the ways He is drawing our students - your kids - into deeper faith, trust, and love for Him!
