Real Marriage Matters

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭20:7‭-‬8‬ ‭NET‬‬
[7] Some trust in chariots and others in horses, but we depend on the Lord our God. [8] They will fall down, but we will stand firm.

I read this psalm this morning.
The psalm is about God answering and intervening on behalf of the King, King David, but then it ends with a declaration. The declaration is that our trust is totally in God.
Chariots and horses represented a battle advantage in those times. Possessing them meant you held an advantage over the enemy.
Here, the psalmist is declaring that those things don't matter. What matters is God. At the end of it all, He wins our battles. It doesnt matter what things look like externally, our hope doesn’t come from our posessions or who or what we know, but from God.

This has been a strong growing edge for me. I used to put so much hope in people. The more people i knew the more secure I felt. Who i knew would help get me or my loved ones out of situations, and if honest, i still wrestle with it. I know God has grown me tremendously in ways I cannot truly explain. But I often have to remind myself, ONLY GOD!!!!!!

I have to put ALL of my trust in God.
I have to truly come to the place where I realize that no matter what things look like in the physical realm or the spiritual realm, God is always in control.

I celebrate you today not because you are a beautiful woman both inside and out (although you are drop dead gorgeous). I celebrate you because you are a woman who fears and loves God with all of your heart, and the bible reminds me that this type of woman will be praised. Today marks another year of life that the Lord has granted you and I am thankful that I get to see you celebrate it.
Continue to be a woman after the heart of God. Continue to seek Him with all that you are because I get to reap the benefits of your relationship with God.

Happy birthday Jackie, thank you for being you, may our God bless you and your legacy in abundance.

A gentle response turns away anger, but a harsh word stirs up wrath.
Proverbs 15:1

This was and still is, an influential scripture in reinforcing how I respond to people in life, when counseling and especially in my marriage.

There is no need to fight fire with fire when responding one to another, it only makes things worse, as the scripture reminds us.

I find that when I am concious and give thought to my response, instead of shooting from the hip, it allows for the situation to diffuse much easier.

And i also find the opposite to be true, when I shoot from the hip, it makes the situation much worse.
I would rather turn anger away than stir up wrath.

It is great to take a special day out to celebrate relational love, but true love rests in understanding the depth of God's love for us and projecting that love onto others, especially our spouse!!!!
