“Esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake.” - 1 Thessalonians 5:13

Pastoral ministry is measured by more than what happens behind the pulpit.

It is found in the prayers, preparation, discernment, service, and steady care invested in God’s people often beyond what the congregation ever sees.

This Pastor Appreciation Month, we thank God for Pastor Marcia E. Stanley and honor her faithful service to Creston Avenue Baptist Church.

May God continue to strengthen her for the work, deepen her wisdom, and keep her anchored in Christ as she shepherds His people.

We honor the shepherd of Creston as Christ remains the Chief shepherd of our lives.

“Search me, O God, and know my heart… and lead me in the way everlasting.”
- Psalm 139:23–24“

May the Holy Spirit reveal what needs surrendering, Christ reshape what needs changing, and our lives increasingly reflect the One we profess to follow.
Some prayers ask God to change what surrounds us.
A deeper prayer gives Him permission to address what is within us.

“Abide in me, and I in you.” - John 15:4

Everybody is trying to move forward. But Jesus also taught us how to simply, remain and Abide.

Stay rooted in Christ. Stay connected to the One who gives the strength, direction, and grace to keep growing. Because fruit doesn’t come from striving. It comes from staying connected to the Vine.

“Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” - Galatians 6:2

As severe weather moves through our area this weekend, let’s remember that caring for one another is part of how we live our faith.

Just some friendly tips to get us through it all:
Check on an elderly neighbor
call someone who lives alone.
Secure what needs securing around your home.
use wisdom when traveling.
And keep those affected by flooding and dangerous conditions in prayer.

Faith doesn’t require us to ignore the storm. It teaches us how to love our neighbor in the middle of it.

Stay safe, Creston family. We’re praying for our community.

“Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!”
- Isaiah 6:3

We spend so much of life asking God for what we need that sometimes we forget to stop and acknowledge who He is.

So before the request. Before the answer and before the breakthrough.

HE is holy.

Not because of what He gives us. Not because circumstances worked in our favor. God is worthy because holiness belongs to His very nature.

And the One we proclaim to the world is Jesus Christ our Lord, Savior, and King.

May our lives make His name known BEYOND the walls of the church, because the entire earth belongs to His glory.

Mark 8:36: What good is it to gain the whole world and forfeit your soul?

YOU CAN HAVE THE MONEY.
YOU CAN HAVE THE SUCCESS.
YOU CAN HAVE THE INFLUENCE.
YOU CAN HAVE THE RECOGNITION.

BUT WHEN THIS LIFE IS OVER, NONE OF IT CAN ANSWER
THE ONLY QUESTION THAT REMAINS:

WHAT DID YOU DO WITH CHRIST?

“I am the LORD, and there is no other.” - Isaiah 45:5

Before the requests, deadlines, problems, and plans comes recognition. Christian prayer begins not merely with what we need from GOD, but with who GOD is.

Honor him with your worship.

“In the world you have trouble and suffering, but take courage I have conquered the world.” - John 16:33
—————
Fear becomes smaller when our understanding of Christ becomes greater. Meaning, the Christian life does not promise the absence of frightening circumstances; but rather reveals who remains sovereign in the midst of them. This makes Jesus not merely our comfort when life becomes uncertain, but also our Lord when circumstances are unfavorable,
Lord when they are difficult,
and evenLord when we cannot see what comes next.

So we do not deny fear. We refuse to enthrone it!

Therefore for you, get to know Christ deeply enough that fear no longer gets the final word in or over your life. ✝️
