🍽️ DON’T EAT WITHOUT GIVING THANKS
Legacy Movement Church | Daily Devotional
Giving thanks before your meal is more than religious tradition—it is recognition of the Provider. Jesus took the bread and “having given thanks, He distributed” it (John 6:11, NASB). Paul teaches that what God provides is to be “received with gratitude; for it is sanctified by means of the word of God and prayer” (1 Timothy 4:4–5). Every time you stop and pray before eating, you are declaring, “God, I recognize that You are my source.” You may have bought the groceries, cooked the meal, or paid the restaurant bill—but God gave the strength, opportunity, resources, and daily bread. Never become so accustomed to provision that you forget the Provider.
And when we pray, we don't pray from fear—we pray from faith. Scripture teaches us to pray, “deliver us from evil” (Matthew 6:13), while reminding us, “greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world” (1 John 4:4). Christians don't need to become obsessed with whether someone practiced witchcraft, spoke a curse, or intended spiritual harm through something we consume. Our confidence isn't in finding the enemy hiding behind everything; our confidence is in Christ. We give thanks, ask God to sanctify what we receive, reject fear, and trust His protection. Before you take the first bite, remember: Give thanks. Recognize the Provider. Trust the Protector.
🙏🏽 PRAYER:
Father, thank You for providing my daily bread. I receive this food with gratitude and acknowledge You as my Source. According to Your Word, sanctify what I receive through Your Word and prayer. Guard me, my family, and my household from evil. I reject fear and place my confidence completely in Jesus Christ. No curse, scheme, witchcraft, or spiritual attack will become the source of my fear, because greater is He who is in me than he who is in the world. Let this food strengthen my body, and let my life continue to bring You glory. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
