This semester has truly been an answer to prayers.

A packed building. Incredible experiences happening in classrooms. New friendships being made. And most importantly, we hope every person who walks through our doors knows one thing:

YOU BELONG HERE.

Today we had almost 70 students packed into our Gospel & Waffles class—eating waffles, laughing together, and having meaningful conversations about the gospel of Jesus Christ. 🧇

Thank you for showing up. Thank you for bringing your friends. Thank you for making Institute what it is.

And we’re just getting started.

Keep coming. Keep inviting. Keep bringing one more with you.

There’s something beautiful about the fact that our students chose this for their very first service project.

The philosophy behind our In the Service of Your Fellow Beings class is pretty simple: we don’t want to just talk about serving the way the Savior served. We want to actually practice it.

We study how Jesus Christ noticed people, loved them, reached for them, and served them—and then we ask, “How can we go and do likewise?”

So when the students had the opportunity to choose our first project, they chose something incredibly simple:

Make homemade bread for the sacrament.

I love what that means.

This Sunday, somewhere in the Gila Valley, someone will take a small piece of bread these students mixed, kneaded, baked, and prepared—and use it during a sacred ordinance to remember Jesus Christ.

On the surface, we’re just making bread.

But today that bread represents something more: time, effort, love, and an offering to the Savior.

And maybe that’s one of the most important things we can learn in this class:

Service doesn’t have to be big to be sacred.

“And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God.”

A student in our Wednesday night Institute class shared this thought, and it’s been on my mind ever since:

“If you can’t see light at the end of the tunnel, then you’re not at the end of the tunnel.”

What a powerful reminder.

There will be moments when we can’t see what’s ahead. Answers may not come when we want them. The road may feel darker and longer than we expected.

But darkness doesn’t mean the story is over.

Because of Jesus Christ, there is always hope ahead. There is always healing. There is always a way forward.

And maybe the most important truth of all: we don’t have to wait until the end of the tunnel to find Him. He walks through it with us. 🤍

Because of Him. ✨
