📖 Sermon Recap
Scripture: 2 Samuel 6:6-13
Preacher: Rev. Williams
Church: Hopewell Baptist Church
Topic: David Danced
Sometimes our greatest struggles come when we try to do God’s work our way instead of God’s way. In 2 Samuel 6, David learned a powerful lesson: you can’t handle holy things any kind of way. The people had good intentions, but they were not following God’s instructions, and the consequences were serious.
Rev. Williams reminded us that when we handle situations outside of God’s will, something is bound to happen. Too often, we create new methods, shortcuts, and solutions that seem right to us, but they may not be God’s way. After witnessing what happened, David became angry and afraid. Yet through that experience, he learned to trust God’s sovereignty and recognize that God makes no mistakes.
The turning point came when David changed. Before he could experience God’s blessing, he had to adjust his behavior and align himself with God’s instructions. Had he continued on the same path, more harm would have followed. Instead, David humbled himself, obeyed God, and witnessed the blessings that came from doing things God’s way.
As a result, David’s praise changed. His worship changed. His dance changed.
When we truly understand who God is and what He has done for us, our response to Him should be different. Obedience leads to blessing, and a heart transformed by God’s grace cannot help but worship.
Takeaway: God doesn’t just care that we serve Him, He cares how we serve Him. When we align our lives with His will and trust His ways above our own, our worship becomes deeper, our praise becomes more genuine, and our lives become a testimony of His blessing.
Reflection: What areas of your life need to be brought back into alignment with God’s way? When we surrender our plans and trust His instructions, we position ourselves to experience His presence, His favor, and the joy that causes us to dance before Him.
