A Message from our Associate Pastor | Minister of Families, Dennis Johns
I love summer @ FBCTC. It is one of the most active times of the year, and it also happens to be a great time for refreshment, retreat, excitement, and exposure to Kingdom principles in a fun and focused atmosphere. This summer we have a few opportunities to experience this excitement, and it all continues this Saturday as we send 56 children and adults off to Pineywoods Camp! Pre-Teen Camp is a Saturday through Tuesday (3 nights) sleep away camp for those students who have completed 3rd – 6th Grades. It is jam-packed with high-energy activities, awesome grade-level worship services, Bible studies, mission adventures, and much more.
The theme for Pr***en camp (and Youth Camp later in the summer), “100% All In,” emphasizes that followers of Jesus should not follow Jesus half-heartedly. Christianity is an “all or nothing” faith.
Then Monday 14 FBCTC students will travel to Dallas Baptist University for Super Summer, a jam-packed week of discipleship and leadership preparation led by some of the finest leaders from churches across Texas.
The theme for Super Summer is “Once and for all” focusing on the finished work of Christ through His crucifixion and resurrection. Christ’s victory over sin & death makes it possible for fallen sinners to receive new life in Christ and to live in the freedom of the victory that Jesus has won.
I believe it’s no coincidence that both themes involve emphasis on total commitment to our faith. Sadly, some have turned the practice of Christianity into a hobby to be pursued when nothing else interferes. Some view it as the last resort when all else fails. Please pray that Pr***en/Youth Camp and Super Summer will be a time of awakening and transformation.
May we continue to seek renewal and be reminded each day of the importance of the Gospel -He Came, He died, He was buried, He arose, He ascended, He’s coming back! It really does matter. What difference has it made in your life?
Who are you sharing that with? It really does matter. Why not stop doubting and believe? He went 100% for us. Why not go “ALL IN” for Him?
